I am a Reform Party member who joined when Nigel agreed to stand at the last election. I would describe myself as a religious conservative voter.
The problem for me was the direction of travel that the conservatives took during Covid. They moved too far towards the center left. I blame Boris and Sunal for that. Liz Truss was going to drag them back but failed. The bulk of the party had forced the move to the center and paid the price.
What I see with Reform is not a fully though out set of policies. But a clear direction in which the travel will be. Less state and less tax. More of be responsible for yourself. How you get the bulk of the welfare claimants to vote for that is a little harder. I am not against the welfare state, I am against how big it has become and we need to stop and have a reset. I will be honest, this week I had a very efficient interaction with the passport office. That is once every 10 years. But this week I have been dealing with highways and planners on different jobs. Sheer frustration and stupidity in abundance. The sooner we get the “civil servants” they are there to help not hinder we will see an enonomic miracle. Stop preventing people from doing things. Let people decide how they want to spend there money rather than let the state decide.
Defence, education and health are the main functions of government, empty the bins that of local authorities. Every thing else is fluff and can go!!

This echos everyone else I hear talking of the civic servants - they are here to work FOR us not against us all the time!! Planners are at the top of that list and need a real big kick up the a$$!!!!

most bodies making a living from the public purse needs a wake up call. I have relative working from home for publicly owned utility company and the waste is ridiculous . The stories he tells me about the staff and managers are unbelievable. One manager working from home , email contact only was working from the south of France. All these bodies now hiding behind a wall of making it virtually impossible to actually speak to someone.
It seems that in the last few years public service bodies think it’s ok to not take calls and to not respond to emails . Well it’s NOT FECKIN OK ! They are supposed to work for us .
I’m currently dealing with planning dept , I’m in for planning for workshop . The date it should have been dealt with has passed . I’ve had no neighbour comments . Rather than deal with it theyve asked my architect to clarify my intended use of containers in garden .
Containers have got feck all to do with the garage planning and no one has complained about them so what the feck !!
I’ve been trying to call them for 3 weeks and Ive emailed with no response .
Like a lot of us on here I’ve had loads of dealings with the planning dept and roads dept over the years but they were a lot better than this to deal with in the past and this is in a time when it’s supposed to be being made simpler .
No wonder it takes forever to get anything done here in the uk .
We can’t even bury our dead in a timely manner for some reason .

I’m voting Reform .but I think they will do well to do anything about it . I believe that the issues are deep within public service set up and managers who would of managed staff at the forefront dealing with public are not in it anymore and the managers now are of the same attitude as the staff . I know there are going to be exceptions but they are fast proving the rule

Only going to get worse with liebour in power...
They run the show.... absolutely entrenched ...worth a look into how powerful some are!

Some will hate this but reform is our only hope..only other party with a hope of tackling liebour head on. Are they perfect .....no but show me an alternative.

We have 4 apprentices at various stages and various disciplines and there's hardly a week goes by that we don't have a visit from either a lecturer or administrative person to see one of them. I can't believe sometimes why we have so many visits from the college. but then they make their own timetables and get money from the government for it and just keep on going round places with apprentices filling up their day and using up other people's time , jeez I'm on a right tirade of various things just now

So what’s a better solution ? I don’t vote for Reform lightly as a son of immigrants but our whole system needs a shake up. Quoting what’s happening in USA isn’t helpful in influencing what way we might vote here . For a start off none of our general police force is armed .
We need change and we only have a few options to vote for . We have to pick one . Labour under Starmer are not the answer in my opinion , Tories are dead in the water , Reform are offering change . It’s not difficult to see how they will get the vote .

Yes, we have private medical insurance. Have had it for many years and yes the premium keeps going up. In my experience the NHS works very well in an emergency. Long term conditions not so well. My neighbor had a major shoulder operation a year ago. He had an MRI to check on if in July last year. He finally had a consultation with his surgeon last week. The problem we have is there is not competition on medical care because we have the NHS. There is no need to improve, there is no need to be competitive, because there is no incentive to be better.
As for all the ICE stuff, the country is completely divided over immigration. There officers routinely carry guns, as do members of the public. If you drive off after being told to get out of your car, don’t be surprised you get shot at. If you disturb officers going about there lawful business, don’t be surprised if you get shot at. Whilst I think the first was misguided by her wife saying “drive baby drive” and hitting the accelerator, I haven’t dived deeply into the second incident. I am not certain, but I seem to think I have seen something that said 1200 people a year are shoot in America by police. Not confuse ICE with what is all ready a problem when everyone randomly carries weapons. You could consider that in this country we are like that we only have a knife problem.

If we didnt have the nhs then i would be in debt for the rest of my life because of an eye injury i sustained at a time in life when i wouldnt have been able to afford health insurance. I think the problem is the elite driving prices up for everything and screwing over the working class and then scapegoating the weakest , in this case the immigrants. Have you seen Gary economics or Richard J Murphy on youtube?
They make a good argument that the elite are the problem.
Anyone looking to tackle inequality will get my vote.

I don’t think we are going to see the outright end of the NHS. But certainly we need to have a think about some of the things we do. Firstly, in the event of an accident, the NHS should always be there. Many years ago people used to get tax relief on private health care insurance, it was scrapped. Start by bringing that back. Secondly, we are very fortunate that our daughter was an IVF funded by the NHS, after they failed to correctly diagnose the issues and we had that done privately. I am not convinced that IVF is something that the NHS should fund.
Unfortunately inequality is a fact of life. Welfare is not the answer to leveling up, that comes down to personal responsibility. Certainly welfare for those that need it, but to have 50% of the working population on some form of benefit is not the answer. You can only take so much off so few. As I have said before, the state is failing, schools, NHS, police, councils. We need a complete rethink on how big the state has become and push back.
Nigel may not be the answer. But I am sure it is not Zac. Legalize drugs, rent controls, no borders, just a few of the ideas he has floated on the BBC this morning. I am not sure what else he has up his sleeve but I can’t see him or the Lib Dems heading into No 10 at the next election.
