On average sized gardens I often clean up what we have with a rake bucket, track it in tight and import some decent screaned soil skim over the top, good enough for turfing, not so good if the customer wants to grow spudsbut nobody does.

I agree, often much quicker and easier. Level off, get the worst/biggest stones out and then screed out the sub 10mm topsoil ready for the turf.

I was quoted just shy of £5500 for the 1500 wide one with a top hitch and hoses. (I hadn’t done any negotiating though).
I’m kind of glad it was so expensive as would have probably just taken a punt if closer to £3k!….

Rekon with the rake we've saved 2 customers getting rid of and importing around 500 ton since we bought it. Not most efficient but still way cheaper than the alternative. 1 client queried why we had op in machine for 2 days ish paying her wages etc. I then pointed out we paid 750 for a load of top soil last week she has done over 2 loads in 2 days. He didn't mention it again lol

Rake seems a good tool for this job, in fact good for lots of jobs ..I have one for the 1.7t kub its a digbits rake which seems o.k but its under a s**t whites hitch that will gouge the dipper but wont hardly open the other way so it spoils the working range.
Looking to buy one for the 6t under the tilty, brexit has buggered getting one from u.k
What does this look like ? Looks like the sort of profile that will riddle a bit as well as rake.

doesn't give you the critical angle of the pick up pins to the body .. very important under the tilty

May just be doing that, especially as i ordered it at plantworz while talking to their design and technical expert, i thought he had understood what i was talking about.

I had a discussion with them over the pick-up angle on my grading beam, had them do mine at 30 degrees which allows me to bring the beam right up to the machine, where as when they are just flat ontop of the beam your working envelope is very limited on a beam.

Works very well, but they don’t seem to offer it as a option to anyone
