Jb weld if it's dry would stop the leak, hopefully wouldn't course any problems? That sounds serious. Can i just fill the hole with something![]()
Jones starI think it may force any leaking diesel into the crank case? I expect that is why the hole is there.
That bailer an older MF? Or something more exotic like ransomes (guessing by the colour)
Like others have suggested, it’s a weep hole to prevent or reduce the amount of leakage into the timing case and therefore the sump. The starting problem is caused by the same thing. I’d say pump shaft seal will need replacing at the very least and a pump refurb the best option. Easy job to do, that style of pump is easy to remove and should only take a few hours to mount and bleed back up. I’d get it sorted fairly quick I’m afraid as diluted oil won’t do the engine any favours. If your stuck I can route out the service procedure for pump removal and timing if necessary. I think that pump will need to be locked at No1. Tdc then the bolt above the weep hole wound in once tab has been slid down. Mark the pump rotation on studs if not already marked.
