Fuel Prices

I’d be interested to know what anyone else in Sussex/Surrey/Hampshire pays for derv deliveries? It’s always expensive for me no matter the supplier, yet Fawley refinery is pretty much on the doorstep.
I can't remember exactly but 3 weeks ago we where toldd to fill machines up at the pumps as the fuels cards where 1.7 something and the white delivered into the yard was high 1.80s that is buying 8000ltrs a week combined red and white although it will now be very little red.

If you're saying bulk is always expensive based on cost of bulk v fuel cards I've been told by a few heavier users than me that fuel cards are usually cheaper than bulk.

No, this is based upon prices people state on here for bulk deliverys.

OK, so it'll be coming from the refinery to the local supplier, then to me. Still close to source so distance from the refinery can't be a reason for added cost here.

Everyone on here is spread over the country though with more or less choice of suppliers and buying different quantities. Can vary day by day as well, I know my bulk supplier resets prices every morning it can make a difference by the time you've seen a price on here it could be out of date.

No. I'm seeing prices on here for 1000litres that are within a day of getting my own prices for 2000litres from three suppliers- still less

I must have a black mark against my name or something! Forecourts are all top whack here too.

Still a lot of variables doob tbh. Fuel cards and bulk vary all over the country and if you're in an area where forecourts are dear then they'll probably be dearer as well. Buying 2000l should be a better price than 1000l but if you're gonna buy 2000l every 6 months compared to someone buying 1000l every 3 or 4 weeks are they gonna give you best price? I don't ring round for prices often enough and tbh have stuck with same supplier for about 10 years now. Having said that on the occasions I've rang round there's only been a tiny saving to be had which wasn't worth bothering with. Last tank full i got others were 6 to 10p per litre more than my supplier so maybe loyalty does exist? The dearest price i had could deliver next day whereas my own supplier was a week to deliver, were they quiet or was it a case of if he's daft enough to pay this we'll make sure to get him it?

I read it and thought what a load of tosh! You get no fuel saving with a tilty, constant use of the additional hydraulic service uses more fuel! I’ve only had mine 6 years now so kinda know the drill!
What they do save on is time, efficiency, awkward jobs and additional labour is reduced, sod all fuel saved!

But if it saves on time, is that not a fuel saving?
(I’ve not read the article, so not sure what they are claiming) but you can’t say there’s no fuel saving if it saves time , surely?

I read it as you’ll put 20% less fuel in the tank per hour…

It’s irrelevant to my comment, I was confused by your post, as you suggest that there’s no fuel savings with a tilty, but then say there’s time savings, which equals fuel savings in my eyes.
I’d agree that there is no fuel saving for an hour of run time with or without a tilty. But there is an indirect saving if the job is carried out quicker.

A machine using additional hydraulic power/aux hydraulics will surly use more fuel than one not?
Granted a tilty using this hydraulic power could be more efficient at doing a job, than a machine without, (job depending), but it would use more fuel per day as not not using?
Overall the job may be completed quicker, and produce savings that way, but for the same amount of hours worked as without one it would use more fuel is my thinking.

The only way you could save fuel per clock hour is drastically reducing tracking. From jobs where we have used a machine to shift earth as it's easier than going and getting a dumper it seems to burn an awful lot more fuel than straight digging. If the tilty could reduce the tracking on some jobs then theoretically there could be a fuel saving. Although this wouldn't be on every job

I've read this article and there is a lot of best case scenarios used, fuel prices including vat etc. But I disagree that a tilty doesn't save you fuel, as James says, on time saving alone. Its not as much as they claim - as I said they have used a bit of licence but it will be something. I'm not sure I buy this theory that the tilty uses more fuel to run either, the flow they take is so minimal - its not a flail is it! Maybe if you sit there spinning it constantly like some of the Instagram hero's it might, but I've not noticed my fuel use increasing.
All I've noticed is my bank balance increasing?
