Had a little poke around the LLs new Chinese duck today. 7.5ton ish . 2020 with 800ish hours.
Runs on a manual gear box with 5 forward and one reverse gears and clutch brake and foot throttle. Is this normal?
It’s not normal . Normally high and low with a creep function . Is it fully manual or is it like the thwaites dumpers kind of semi auto ?
What was the price like ?

It’s same as a van box . Clutch brake and throttle and steering wheel and fully manual . Prop shaft down through centre of sleep ring and prop shafts front and back. No idea if locking diffs or not .

That’s exactly the same as the first duck I was on for a while. A 10t hitachi wh051D it was built over 40 years ago though ! What on earth possessed them . The clutch will be worn out as soon as it’s been bogged a couple of times

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
As far as I know most ducks and certainly mine are hydrostatic drive requiring a pedal to do forwards and back- no gears other than high low. Was thinking today I'd actually prefer a proper box though like a 40k tractor might have.
you'd get bored VERY quickly with a manual box in a duck, working it

I would imagine so.
Having spent quite a bit of time on the Indian version of a 1970s MF tractor, is there not a market for a similar style copy of a pre electronic plant ? Like a nice Indian version of project 7 3CX or a Hitachi EX or some other immensely well regarded machine of its day?

when I was in school a friend was into radio control boats, with his house backing onto the canal, he had loads of space to play with 'em ... his best one was an incredibly lifelike decoy duck - motorised - would do 5mph .. and could pass canal boats like they'd stopped/were going backwards -- in fwd or reverse ... we had some fun boater baiting with that duck :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Here it is. Lots of paperwork but all in Chinese :) Engine is possible Deutz as DT code on it? If anyone has any info on it I shall pass it on. Currently the rotate and grab only working one way so wiring issue between joystick and diverter in the grab it would seem.

Just as I left the yard another Duck landed in my LL yard . 2010 ish Chinese machine with rotating grab. Auction from North Wales ? Obscenely low hours. Sub 1000 I’ve been told.
I cant think of an auction site up here that would of had that duck, but i thick I`ve seen it or one very similar in a plastics recycler, maybe sold via o line auction
