If you pick something heavy up can you lift the front wheels off the ground? If so, it is probably strong enough...haha probably poor thing. Any idea how i tell what the ram is actually rated for? I just sort of stole it off a front linkage that had been sat in the barn for years and put it on the rear... Several years ago now, had no issues with it so far. Just sort of thought 'looks big enough'.

OK well its good to know that I don't have to worry too much about getting a smaller ram - so long as I beef up the thumb and the pin mounts for the ram for the thumb and possibly even the ram on the dipper too...Probably a bit bigger but it was a ram I had laying about that looked right
And my pal who’s machine it’s on fair gives it somethat’s why it’s got the thicker pieces welded on the tips..........as he bent the ends

Right ok thank you, dragging me back to gcse maths hahaha.it's rating can be calculated ..... piston area x pressure available = capacity as a straight push ... for a pull, subtract the area of the rod diameter from the piston area, for usable piston area ...
(pi) 3.142 x radius squared ... eg. 50mm cylinder would be 25 x 25 x 3.142 x pressure (say 200 bar) = circa 4t push
Certainly can, with the front loader off and no front weights on she picks up our wood chipper and the front becomes extremely light.... Never got them totally off the ground mind... It doesn't seem to complain tilting the chipper either. If you pick something heavy up can you lift the front wheels off the ground? If so, it is probably strong enough...
the check valve in theory should never be able to let go ..... summat else'd have to give... check valves are best mounted, either direct to a cylinder port, or via steel tube to the port which you want to check .... not a flexi rubber, which can burstRight ok thank you, dragging me back to gcse maths hahaha.
presumably it'd take an immense amount of pressure to pull the ram outwards past that check valve though?
yes is mounted via steel tubing which is in good nicthe check valve in theory should never be able to let go ..... summat else'd have to give... check valves are best mounted, either direct to a cylinder port, or via steel tube to the port which you want to check .... not a flexi rubber, which can burst![]()

I meant the service that you need to check with the valveyes is mounted via steel tubing which is in good nic
I meant the service that you need to check with the valve....... but it's a good idea to make sure the plumbing is in good nick too
