This is my 16 panel, 4kw solar farm, facing almost south. Installed in 2015 and has paid for itself over and over again

And this is my DIY battery storage system. In the summer, we store enough to keep the house going 24/7.
In the winter, we charge it up on cheap rate electric.
Got plans to further add to the capacity.

And finally, here is a summer screenshot of the App showing what's going on 😎

And this is me last week beefing up our loft insulation with 'Itchy and Scratchy'.
Cleared the loft of all crap and the standard 100mm was topped up to 270mm.
Installed some OSB board walks with 100mm of Celotex.
House feels warmer already 😊

So there you go guys, this thread popped up with that new boiler install, but it's really about energy costs.
And with the energy cap changing again in January '26, we all need to review how much energy we are using.
So go on show us all your energy saving stuff ;)
Can't believe a guy as capable as yourself has left loft wool at 4" till 2025. It's literally got to be the easiest win, bang for buck you can do to a house for energy 🤣

You must be getting too much free leccy from that solar! Do the set ups really pay for themselves without all these fit payments? Id consider solar and maybe batteries on a potential upcoming house but I don't really want to be shelling out 10s of thousands and nowhere near capable enough to diy any electrics or batteries.

Yep - guilty as charged sir :p
The big thing that I'd put off for years was clearing all the crap out of the loft.
Now there's just Xmas stuff and suitcases 😎

Now off to order some more sunshine ☀️..........

Well in that case I can understand it. Ideal procrastination reasons! Last place of ours my missus didn't have access to loft and was rationed garage space. Think ill get her and kids their own shed in next place
