IIRC there was 3 or 4 last year - all caused by leccymobiles catching fire ... think I put a couple of 'em up at the time

Probably a good job that Fremantle Highway didn't catch fire when it was moored up in Bristol a few days earlier

Going to be expensive to ship any car, under maritime law anyone with a cargo on a ship is automatically liable to take a share of any loss at sea.
Can't see why they appear to be catching fire ... don't think they have them on charge in the carriers and there were only a couple of dozen on board out of nearly 3000.
There is way more than that just local to me being charged and I've not heard (or smelt) a single one burn.
Something just doesn't seem right....

I would guess that " Members of the crew initially tried to douse the flames themselves, but were overwhelmed and were eventually forced to flee. " would give a fair idea of what started the fire ... hence the leccy chariot statement

Yes not all power is green but when centrally produced it’s a lot easier to apply greener tech to it then loads of exhausts pumping out emission outside schools etc

By making the discussion very simple it attracts an audience that are far from simple in the name of humour.
We have happily burnt oil, gas and coal for decades in producing electric for the grid. Centrally produced and distributed without the need for battery storage. Nothing wrong with generating wind and solar, but when you turn the kettle on for your morning brew one will not be amused if there is no wind and solar to boil it!!
Electricity is not cheap to store. Very wasteful!! Yet we push now a line of carbon capture and various other non proven tech to make electricity green. We still haven’t solved the nuclear waste issue but I will leave that one aside for now.
I am far away from believing that we are able to restrict the effects of climate change.
As for pollution outside the school gates, simply provide smaller schools in each district that you can walk to. Why do we have so many parents dropping kids off in cars. Is it because living in the UK has become so expensive over decades that we now have predominantly 2 working parents. Drop kid at school, then go straight to work.
There is far more to improving life outcomes for everyone than just pollution. Food education and avoiding obesity would be a start.
Take care with your own choices and don’t rely on central intervention.

Her point is that electric cars do not magically come into existence, and electricity does not generate it's self.
