Vicki dropped her hubby at Taunton rail station Friday morning, for an 11 o'clock back up here, whilst she and the girls went on down to Josh's in Plymouth...
he had 3 trains cancelled on him and I eventually collected him from Aber station at 6.15pm, after a very fraught day ... and they weren't on strike Friday

It is of no surprise at all that ppl only (try to) use them when desperate ... I didn't ask him WTF it cost him -- but will do.

We use to have a rail way line through the town. It was closed with the Beeching closures. Many suggestions have been mad to reopen it but it's now a national trail and it's going to upset to many people to open it.
The buses haven't run for months due to staff shortages and they take forever to get anywhere. This is a fair size town in the Surrey hills. So God knows what it's like in the proper countryside and more remote towns

luckily Aber is on a main line .. Caeeerdiffff to Crewe ....were loads of branch lines round here closed, to all over the valleys, from Aber., which had 2 big junctions, a big goods yard and employed a lot of ppl. (a lot of those are now cycle trails too)

A lot of the smaller stations on the main line were just shut (Beeching)-(amazingly they have actually re-openend a few) ... were two in Pandy, a couple of miles apart and loads of others. :(

Pontrilas timber have interestingly enough, recently started hauling round timber into Aber., for off load onto their trucks and are in discussions for installing a rail head at their yard in Pontrilas, as a spur off the main line.
I used to put a crane into the junction yard, usually fortnightly, offloading cable drums for Telcoms and the railways in the 80,s

late 80,s I reversed my 15t Hydrocon, 3 miles up that line, which was then just a ballast track bed, to unload a big boiler at the mouth of Clydach tunnels, for a guy who was using it for growing mushrooms in ..... was an easier drive out

I went to Cardiff yesterday evening there were a few biggish events on so thought maybe I'll do park and ride, trains were on strike too, checked online car park shuts 17.45 ffs. Dickford and co haven't a clue so full of it. Ended up driving and parking free of charge along with free VIP seats 😄

I got the free Bus Pass use occasionally on local bus but have mostly used it when on holidays also got a local train station cant remember when I last used it if ever, but if I cant afford a car like most people wont be able to shortly I might be glad of it

never bothered to collect mine - eligible at 60 in Wales, so ought to i 'spose ... Pam had hers.
IIRC '91 is the last time i was on a train - went to Heathrow - was a really good, cheap service ... 29 quid return.
been on more ski lifts and gondolas than trains, in my life

So as a true fingers up to Electric cars I spent a glorious eveneng yesterday at the Redhill Cruise, It was simply bloody superb, The sound of large cube V8's everywhere was just music to the ears. If you like your Yank tanks it's a must a few pics attatched, My favourite and on my bucket list to own is a 68/69 Dodge Charger. A few of my favourites below. I will add a few more pic in a while.

Charger/challenger red-eye 😍 firmly on my bucket list. Not daft money either tbf

I know someone with a green 67 Mustang that he has restored as a Bullit tribute so if i can get a Black Charger a chase could be on although i don't fancy crashing into a Shell petrol station! More pics shortly!
