I love the car, it’s so relaxing to drive, does 180 miles to an 11 hour charge at home on a three pin plug. Beautifully built, carbon body over aluminium chassis and all plastic panels, weighs just 1280kg...
Does it tow? (anything)Soooo.... I’ve had a little electric car for a year now, a bmw i3s which surprised me with its pace, handling and practicality. It’s a car I bought through my company taking all the perks currently offered, I bought it with my head rather than my heart but have grown to love it for all non work duties.
If I do 10k a year in it instead of the van and it depreciates less than 2k a year over three years it’s “free” (obvs quids in as it’s worth more now but in a normal situ)
Anyhow the only sour taste came today.
first service at 13k.... £430
for... brake fluid change (unnecessary) rarely use the brakes with regen
pollen filter, I’ll let them have that.
”cell balancing” it takes a long time sir
Piss duly taken, I had a moan! as Tesla’s for instance don’t have a schedule just recommended actions, and the price was knocked back by £100!!
This is a total con, they need to restructure their dealerships if they are that reliant on servicing to prop up their branch. The fact she could remove £100 off the bill immediately is testament to the con.
In fact £430 pays for about 8 thousand miles of electric so this carry on with servicing has to stop in the current climate.
I don’t think it’s a BMW thing as they make all the money from their financial services it’s purely to prop up worried dealerships.

I will give BMW credit for exceptional work on my wife’s car which is a 54plate 3 series. Had a vehicle recall for a new airbag. They have the vehicle a “free vehicle check” and advised me not to drive it home as a rear spring was broken. Also advised the other side was about to break. Car was duly driven home and 2 new springs from the local motor factors for less than £100 saved about £400 as they wanted £500 to do the job. Took me longer to look for the spring compressors.
