I guess its a start. It'll clearly require revision to driving licenses at some point to make it work without extra restrictions but they won't want to make it a free for all on weights in the mean time I guess.

That might be possible seeing as we have managed a whole month being allowed to tow and the roads are not yet littered with crashed trailers

when all this leccy van sh1t started a couple of years back there was some site in the london area had three or four groundworker run over on site by 'stealth transits' .... all had to be fitted with a noise generator of some description 'fore they could use 'em again .... our neighbour has a leccy and has nearly had me a few times on the drive .... just can not hear it coming .... vehicle v pedestrian accidents are bound to rise dramatically as they become more wide spread .... bring on the V8 symphonies

No they won't because remember the government changed the rules last week.
It's no longer stop look listen. It's now step out and hope for the best

Not sure I'd want to live next to a busy road if this was what all electric cars sounded like..

Neighbour down lane has the porker leccy, surprisingly noisy . I'd say about same as average normal car.

I can't get into buying an electric car I think Hydrogen will be the way to go, I am not sure if it is this year or next year but Hydrogen cars will be racing at Le Mans that is when the real development will move on, In the meantime if you get yourself an electric car I say thank you as I can offset it against me buying another Classic car to enjoy.

This thread has been running for a while and set to run for a long time yet......
So a quick question, which if it takes off, I'll start a seperate thread:
"Has anyone got involved installing an electric vehicle charger point?"
My BIL, a sparky, who often uses me for his trenches, phoned me yesterday to ask me to stick in a trenches for an electric car charge point.
Then he started to ramble on about digging out for a bit of formwork to chuck a bit a 'postcrete' in for the duct etc
I am assuming that it will be something like this Charge Point
He is clearly out of his depth with what amounts to basic groundworks
The above has optional extra with a galvanised bolt down box and protection rails etc.
Have now asked for the exact specification of the install AND a site visit (he mumbled something about drains nearby!)
Meanwhile, anyone done these jobs - clearly there's 'gap in the market'
