Easy Start!! It never ends easy! Pistons, Piston rings, head gaskets, bore damage, valve seat damage, valve damage, and others!

not a lover either Mick ........ but Cummins used to fit a canister dispenser system to their motors as a cold start aid something like this

plumbed into the inlet manifold and on the key, or a pull cable .....
had 'em on me cranes.. tms 180, with a V504, 25/28 with a V555, 25 supertruck with a V555, TMS 300 with a 250, TMS 475ELP with a 290 ...... never used 'em
all me Perkies had heater plugs in the manifolds.... can't beat a wall of flame down the inlet to get 'em up and running on a cold start

blow lamp down the inlet'll get anything with enough compression going ...... cold diesels like a lung full of hot air

Yep takes me back to my Army days of having ether pumps bolted to the dash in the RL’s and MK’s

Ether is still an option on Perkins/Cat. Controlled by the ECM and can’t be over-ridden except through the service tool.
