Dumpers, hydrostatic drive the best?

Open to anything at the moment.
Is that the Yagamuchi WB18B? If so I think it’s only 1330mm wide Which would be perfect and at 1200kg it’s pretty convenient to tow around.
What kind of money are they new?

The hydrostatic drives are brilliant unless it's a long run as there a good bit slower than a torque converter they also seem to make them thirsty

this, my 3t mecalac(terex) is hydrostatic, brilliant tool, goes Up anything! Yeah it drinks abit more but it’s bugger All in reality!

This really depends on the size of the machine and type of hydrostatic system used as to how well it will climb/maintain traction etc.

Generally most 1ton dumpers use wheel motors from Poclain, these have a system called twin lock which transfers oil flow from a spinning wheel to one with traction, this is why you probably find they tend to travel quite well on rough/muddy ground.

Once you get to 2 ton and upwards the hydrostatic drive system is basically powering a standard set of axles (This is pretty much the same for all manufacturers) and in this case there is usually no diff lock etc, you tend to find that these machines are a little better at maintaining traction VS the mechanical equivalents due to the smoother power delivery. These days our dealers will sell mostly hydrostatic 2/3T machines as smaller customers can see the benefits of improved usability, safety etc, the mechanical version is basically there to satisfy the large rental customers where every penny counts.

If you are looking to buy new you will also have to bare in mind that with the introduction of Stage V engines it is likely that machines you might have been familiar with in the past now have a different power rating, some examples:

Our TA1EH used to be 15.5kw but has actually now increased to 17.5kw however the TA3 range which used to be 32.4kw is now 18.5kw as standard with the option of a 35kw engine (which has a DPF etc), I beleive in the UK market we could be the only manufacturer offering a high powered 3T dumper. The example of the TA3 range is also the same with Thwaites and Wacker as thier 3T machines have also dropped from around 24kw to sub 19kw.
