Dumpers, hydrostatic drive the best?

Those Wacker Neuson dumpers are really well made but I find them hard to get on and off as the steering column is quite big and the step is pathetic. I like the fuel gauge on the dash though and the paintwork is superior to the Thwaites over the long term. Both decent machines really with strong residuals

Great video on that dumper 👍. I hadn’t really considered the Thwaites simply as I wasn’t thinking about buying new and as you say hens teeth in the used market. Did get a price for a 2 ton Wacker today which was £20k+ vat. I can’t justify that on a dumper really, plus I’m really starting to think that the 1.5t hits a sweet spot, even 2 ton is going to be a little wide on some paths I work on. Couldn’t agree more about real world dumper capacities either- I don’t think I’ve ever managed to actually fit a ton in a 1 ton dumper!

the Thwaites fitted snugly on my 9x5 trailer I mean literally an inch either side ( I think the trailer is 9x5)

still a nice bit of kit and easy to load with the 216 definitely be using one more often than a 3 as it just keeps things moving if that makes sense

Get a terex ta2seh ! Il quote you one if you like 1498 mm wide btw residual value through the roof

Not anymore, and haven't been for some time now. I find the Terex (now Mecalac) stuff performs well but there's strange quirks I don't get on with on them. The shape of their swivel skips is foremost in that list!

Find manual and shuttle gear box dumpers climb piles better than hydro ones
Also jcb 3cx has torque lock so it's direct drive must be a reason it's better with proper drive

Hydro drive seems to be jumpy when the going gets tough wheras shuttle/gearbox dumpers are a lot smoother which is why i think they grip better.

my Thwaites climbs like Sherpa Tensing .. now't stops it, 'cept maybe the pilot's balls ...... went up there full to the brim and would've gone over the top, but - (see pilot comment :giggle: )

I dont' know if it would suit your work, but you could also consider a small tracked dumper? I have a 1.8t Yamaguchi, only downside is it might be a little too wide at 1.6m

Open to anything at the moment.
Is that the Yagamuchi WB18B? If so I think it’s only 1330mm wide Which would be perfect and at 1200kg it’s pretty convenient to tow around.
What kind of money are they new?

Plus if I ever got bored of it as a dumper I’ve always fancied making a mini tracked post driver.
