Hi Having looked at your great forum can anyone offer some advice. I have a 3 ton dumper and I am not sure how to remove the center pivot. Also we do not know what make the dumper is, the front axle is Newage Coventry and the gearbox is Newage 85m engine lister 3 cylinder. Please see attached image

It’s what I do!
From the photo, I guess there would be another cover plate at the bottom, and bearings, and a pivot on the rear axle as not evident that it has an articulating centre joint, not from this angle anyway!

The first image is with the bottom plate removed. Many thanks

Looks like someone already had a go with big hammer and chisel!

Axle stand the rear half all round, tip the skip, axle stand the front at the skip end, the skip weight will tip it forward, the pin floats between the upper and lower plates, and in the bearings, I haven’t got a TT picture of the centre pin kit! Once the pin is out you can use the steering ram with care to separate the two halves, the swinging rear axle will need blocking between axle and chassis.if you can get parts first you will see how it fits.

The later model had a pinch bolt on the side of the bolt about half way down, can’t see it in the photo it would be on the other side!

don't hammer the pin .... IIRC have done one of these many years ago ... put a good jack under the pin and take enough weight to be 'noticable' .. short tube over the top with a good solid plate on top of it and hit the beejesus out of that ... repeat jack, etc. and will need a drift or short spacers as the pin progresses .......... best done on a good, flat, solid, floor. ;)

tell a lie - just looked .. was a Thwaites with the wobbly top link ... but as said all jacked out from below ... top pin using a long drift .... way easier to whack it from the top than trying to sledge upwards
