This has had me scratching my head after suffering problems with my tank and that of a friend.
I emptied something like 600 litres out of friends tank and left it too settle. Recovered about 400liters of oil and the rest doesn’t look like it will burn!!
Mine ended up with a replacement tank that was “donated “ from an office having a new air source heating system installed. Gone for a water trap filter by the tank. Old tank had an inline mini filter that kept freezing.

Can you not get something like a Cat filter/bowl and drain it daily until the water is gone? You might have been unlucky and bought the last load from the bottom of your supplier’s bulk tank. Have you got a moisture drain on your own tank? And can you alter the height of the pick-up, to get it away from the bottom?

if this continues to be a problem Bri it's a solution .. water separator ... I have a good litre of kero, pulled from the tank with the boiler running, currently settling in a glass jar down there .... we're down at Vicki's for tea, so will have a look at it and see if anything has settled since Wed.s .... not hopeful TBH as it looked pristine ..... perhaps it's not water that's saturating and blocking the paper element ?? .... certainly not tish ... they're clean as new when they get swapped out
as for altering the height of the pick up, I've considered this too, but then going to end up with a reduced available volume to draw from ..... reckon a reduction in the return is an even better bet and unless it's too noisy it'll have to be tolerated ... try and reduce the agitation

how old was the tank though Shaun ... Vicki's is a new placcy .. tall 200 gal. ... 'bout a year old now .... no issues until this fill ... and seems like this fill may possibly have been 'different' ... I will find out

Some fuel suppliers use imported fuel to keep cost down which can vary greatly in quality

i once had a fill of oil that sootedthe boiler instantly,pain in the ass till it cleared.also had a client who had water in a delivery,let it settle as water is heavier drained it off till oil run clear ,probaly 5 gallons,wasnt right for a few years ,fliter freezing every year ,

I once put 20 quidsworth of fuel in the car (loooong time ago early 80s) and didn't get out the bloody forecourt .... towed it to my workshop, took the pump out of the tank, through the big rubber bung in the body under the seat (SD1-V8) and siphoned 5 gallons of dirty brown water out of the tank, along with the couple of gal.s of fuel on top of it .... SD's pick up was in a swirl pot in the mid., bottom of the tank, submerged in the water, below the fuel level. Well PO-ed ..... got no joy from the garage .. no way to prove it, despite a receipt for the fuel and they saw me stop - mid forecourt and get towed away
I couldn't have been the only one that day

Old beyond old. The friends boiler was constantly tripping out and we put a water trap filter on the pipe work that would fill every week!! I would dread when they called me!! It has been a relief to change the tank and go again with a fresh delivery. Still amazed at how much crap was in it!!

Flipped it over yesterday and gave the bottom a brush off .....

then dropped it on my old bottle trolley .... better size wheels than me sack truck and better balance for the weight

didn't wanna be carrying most of it, on the sack truck
trundled it down to the patio and bowled it off the trolley ... bit of a juggle getting it exactly where I wanted it.. but got there

dogged the insert into place and as it was blowing well yesterday, chucked a couple of me stage leads on for good measure .. connected up the brolley's post and dogged that up too ... then discretion got the better part of valour and called it a day ....... way too windy IMHDO for a trial 'erection'

ditto today .. and've done sod all, all day ... me hamster juice hasn't 'sat well' today - doesn't occasionally and have had to have a very 'lazy day' ...... hopefully a better day tomorrow

I’m quite surprised that the OE base is only 90kg now you’ve shown it deployed though - that’s a lot of leverage!

cheers MB .... I was surprised at the recommended weight too ..... so went for 33% more ... and as said, also have four 50lb stage lead weights I can lob on the flywheel base too if I'm worried (two deployed yesterday to be sure) .... would not want this up in any sort of breeze though TBH ... 's 3m x 2m and's a hell of a sail ... our old one was 3m dia. and that'd catch the wind if it sprang up, but was a centre pole jobbie, down through the table, which gave it reasonable stability, coupled with a Druidfab base plate clamped to it with 100lbs of lead sat on it

we were going to get some new outdoor furniture last year, but couldn't find anyone with what we (Pam) wanted in stock, so struck early this year and got what we wanted.
If it sees me out - (and some, hopefully) - I'll be happy .... wasn't cheap, but the last lot we bought had done us 18 years, which was pretty good (pretty bloody amazing TBH ) and'll probably go another couple, but is looking tired and decidedly well used .....
As I said somewhere the other night ..... loooong time in the box and can't take it with you .... we'll hopefully get plenty of use out of it

forgot to say ......****ed if I was shelling out 250 quid for a lump of granite to bolt it to .... same bloody price as the brolley itself .... taking the p*ss quite honestly (and knew I had the flywheel tucked away)

My mum got one of those last year, great bit of kit.... but like yours it needed some modifications would just about stand up on its own. The old man says, il sort that, there is 30mm plate on the plasma table today
