Do you still have the handbook for Dell? If so the correct procedure may be in the trouble shooting section?
if you can’t find it then here’s a brief summary.
I know you’ve switched it off but the correct procedure is best performed warm. With the device fully running and from whatever frozen screen it’s decided will be your screen saver for the day, lift the device from the desk/surface where it resides, until you can feel it’s full weight and can feel it’s warmth, as if it’s alive, make sure all cables are still attached and all relevant operating lights are fully illuminated. Do not unplug the device, I repeat DO NOT UNPLUG THE DEVICE. Grip the device, complete with devil inside it and head for the door, this part of the procedure needs to be performed swiftly, run like YOUR life depends on it. Your aim here is to rip the cables from the device so quickly and be moving so fast, that you are out in the fresh open air while the operating lights are still illuminated, at this point Dell hasn’t even got a clue what’s happening, enough residual power remains within its veins for it to think that there is no interruption to the misery that it’s causing you. And this point stop, take a breath, your adrenaline is running high, calm yourself, take a moment to look at Dell, see the once so mischievous life disappear from its operating lights, feel it’s warmth start to dissipate, savour this brief moment, the journey is nearly over, your work is nearly done. At this point you have options, it’s more freestyle, you are almost free and you can choose the next steps to accommodate your own preferences and tools to hand, but the usual method is to lay Dell gently on the ground, raise 14lb of the finest forged steel, connected to the best hickory available and violently deploy the steel into Dell (joyful screaming optional) do this multiple times until satisfied. Some have been known to take a calmer approach and simply bury Dell, others use axes, saws, presses etc etc it’s up to you, this part is all about you, release the rage that Dell has caused, in any way you see fit (this is where the joyful screaming really helps).

can guarantee I won't James ..... there's an SSD in there with the OS and all my links, faves, passwords, etc., on it and a 2TB HDD with my entire archive in there .... killing them'd deffo not make me feel in the slightest bit better ... having it reboot would

my 'puters work pretty hard Rory ... they're used a lot....... and you're right .. just about about everything I do is considered ... 's why I only do most things once and try not to break anything along the way

had a busy morning .... Pulled the Morso to bits, as the hearth has succumbed to a lot of heat and was in need of repair/replacement ......
bought it a new one and all the firebricks maybe 18+ months ago ....
just never gotten around to installing it as we were 'getting away' with what was there .. for now.
on me knees cleaning it and thought ....
today's the day - Pam out walking with some of her mates so peace and quiet to do it.
Went and found the box of new bits and stripped out what was in there .... it's a little sod to juggle the baffles out of.
full hoover out, flu downwards and pristine .... in with the new hearth and all the baffles, bricks, etc..
100 brownie points earned

then ......... ripped this bloody Dell to bits .... totally, after 12 hrs powered down ..... re-connected everything onto the mother board and gave it some juice .... and up came the screen - said it was going to 'repair' itself, which took about 5 minutes and hey presto I am on it right now
there is deffo an issue somewhere as the 'Quick Access' window is taking ages to 'populate' itself ..... so I'll avoid that crap, but at least it's back on .. for now !


Been a hell of a lot of aerial activity here this morning ..... have had four lots of three jets over at about 200 feet, at full chat, going for it ... summat's going on for sure .... not had 'em that low in a looooooong time and usually in pairs not threes

then ......... ripped this bloody Dell to bits .... totally, after 12 hrs powered down ..... re-connected everything onto the mother board and gave it some juice .... and up came the screen - said it was going to 'repair' itself, which took about 5 minutes and hey presto I am on it right now

just got back from Llandough .. 104 miles and nigh on 3 hrs for half an hour in the smarty tube, for yet another MRI ....... 'kin tight one too ...
I really do detest traffic these days ..... plod put his motor behind one broken down on the Llandough/Penarth link and pushed it 1/2 a mile off the running lanes
dash gave me a 400 mile range when I left, now showing 550 ..... smooooooth is the way to do it ... dunno how Pam got it down to 400 ... only filled the damned thing up on Wed.s
