warmed up the trusty bin a bit last night ... good south westerly blowing and nice and dark 
ideal conditions for the less desirable fuels for me burning bin
followed by a bin full of dried leaves (an' a few soggy ones ... all well burnt by this morning after a seriously WILD night here last night.
Pam had to resort to ear plugs to get to sleep ... worst wind noise night since we've been here and empty dumpies / buckets / chairs all over the place this morning
Reo rained off yesterday and the day before ..... dry today but no show ... guessing he was either putting his own roof back on or someone else's as an emergency job .... it was some bit crazy wild!!!
Morning started damp at half seven ... and an hour later we had this.....
...... with the skies clearing soon after, for a very decent, but cold day , with the exception of one 'scud' of a shower, what he'd managed to get pointed was drying well
would've been an ideal day for Reo ...
had a few more bags of fancy gravel delivered
and got them strategically placed for spreading about
for spreading about with the 1RB
was gonna drop the VA-r off ..... 'til I discovered the hitch'd closed of its own accord and didn't want to open again, to drop it on its parking plate ??
so dropped it on the bench to have a suss...
and was reasonably confident i knew what it'd most likely be .... whipped the covers off ...
and sure enough .... as suspected ....
DIN on the hitch solenoid was not looking good ....
basically ... the usual suspects

They're not very waterproof those solenoid connections are they? Weak point in your design.

was a certain 'small person's ' birthday Tuesday and as we have her from school on a Thursday, 'twas 'birthday tea' time tonight ...
Pam'd managed a perfect 'mirror glaze finish on the ganache on that .... 'til she dropped the foil she was sizing up to go under it ... on it
damage repaired, but glaze completely foooooked ... not as Clara'd notice or care ...
it didn't touch the sides .....
I particularly like this one ... one of Pam's best ..... but it appears to disagree with my system of late ... as in a very rough weekend after my last 'sampling', last week ... so sadly have had to resist partaking
..... much to Clara and her mum's pleasure, as they adore it

the new one is stuffed full of vaseline in all the relevant places and the interface 'tween socket and pins, with a liberal coating post connection and screwing up ...... been in there three plus years and lives in the weather, under its 'cover' ... not a lot of alternatives really Alex

anyone know anything about Swift lathes? only ever seen two and never used one
this has a certain appeal ... at 3.5t it's the proverbial brick crapper ... 12" swing over the carriage ... but only a 2-5/8" spindle bore .. sadly
on a par with a D,S&G TYPE 17 for weight and dim.s ..... looks to have had a half decent life ..... guessing early '60's

well after losing most of the week to some pretty atrocious weather, Reo was back at it this morning .... with a vengeance
..will have to wait 'til tomorrow for the end of day pic .. all covered up tonight, in anticipation of some frost tonight

after checking on the underside of a box, that's gonna end up on top of me 'tool box' and a careful measure up, I realised that I was gonna need a few extra mil. under the top one to accommodate the curved roof of the 'tool box' ... that one has clearance under it to cater for a.n.other curved roof .. t'other doesn't so ....
another 20mm required
they won't move far with 12t of box on top so stitches were enough
then turned me attention to 'one off the list' ... SWMBO wanted some of her stainless profiles mounting ... and reckoned this was the easiest way to achieve it

slow ol' job this pointing lark, but he does a nice job and is real fussy about not marking the faces ...
mid afternoon, 'fore the light started to vanish and I had to get a flood stand out ....
has had to deal with a few brief squalls today, the wind has been seriously keen and just can't get out of it up here ... especially here ... I keep Reo well fed with hot coffee and an instruction to come inside whenever he needs to warm up
had to whizz into town after me treatment this morning .... me mate the genny man rang me Saturday .. could I buy him a telly from Argos in Aber.?
Could not find the one he wanted anywhere his side of the 'border' .... no sweat ... mine 10 minutes later, so went and grabbed it this morning ... bent down to pick it up and nearly went over backwards, when i took a hold of it ... had to ask them if there was anything in the box ?
Our 42" plasma's a real hand full .... almost a two manner .... this 54" LCD's light as a feather
currently stashed in a spare bedroom .....
..... think Serge is scheduled to do a service on a couple of gennies down the road from us next week .... he usually calls by for a cuppa when he's our way

They are crazy light these days. I have a 42" plasma (Panasonic beast, paid £150 for it secondhand about a decade ago off my old boss, still going strong in the bedroom) and it too weighs a ton.
In the mean time, the damn cat has claimed 2 LCD panels and the 3rd is now bolted to the wall on an arm.
That would mean it will be a business trip, and therefore permitted, right?..... think Serge is scheduled to do a service on a couple of gennies down the road from us next week .... he usually calls by for a cuppa when he's our way

essential maintenance ... all standby gennies .... with a schedule to be followed ......
IIRC our plasma is 2006 - bought it new and (and I'll say it quietly) performing brilliantly ... fab picture on it .

Dunno how old ours is, I would guess a similar age!

no they dont have to supply only 1. The standard charge is £140 quid for a phone line. Dont mention internet until the phone line is installed as that is covered by separate law and they can charge you mega bucks for it.

trouble is if you already have a physical line into the property they'll simply add another number to the existing line and not install any new cabling... I had 4 lines in work .... all down one pairno they dont have to supply only 1. The standard charge is £140 quid for a phone line. only ever had two cores going to my workshop or home .. 's all you need ...... the multi paired lines are for distant transmission to multiple locations
