if red 'disappears' on schedule, as threatened, it'll be getting converted from Kero to gas oil ... only a nozzle change required ... but it will mean access to red deliveries that you'd not get, without a legit reason, like heating yer hooose

I bet that's a loophole which closes fast if red goes.

we need a lot Jim ... 70+m run, plus the steps and upper deck/landing area .... and TBH, I have no desire to go wandering about the place ATM. Most reclaim is going to be totally random in sizes including thickness and colour :(

these arrived this morning .... bloody heavy crates
WP_20201022_12_32_12_Pro.jpg

I'm hoping one of 'em is solid gold ... for the price !!:oops: ... believe it or not there's 54m2 in that lot

box with the wrapping off'd been opened before it got here and the first thing I find is .....
WP_20201022_17_27_05_Pro.jpg

a bloody grey 6 x 6  we will be having words as there're a few in the others looking suspect 🤬..
although they're still wrapped, they'm 'sposed to all be brown .... if that's the only one it'll do for a gate pillar cap stone .... any more will be a PITFA ... and up for negotiation .... they don't have any more to swap for as we cleaned 'em out all bar a few 450 x 600s .... nothing due to arrive, as India has a few issues with covid currently and no idea when or if they'll see any more deliveries? :(

and on the subject of deliveries ... white jiffy arrived in the post and I' wondering WTF o_O is in it .... as wasn't expecting anything ??
anyway ... opened it up and ...

better day today than yesterday's monsoon conditions .... Reo was well and truly rained off yesterday
but got a bit down today ... starting to get slowed up by limited stone choice and working on his knees all day

saturday was appalling ..... so we did some concreting :unsure: ..... filling 9" hollows .... Mr Readimix was batching it quicker than i could get it down the bloody holes ... a barra'd do two holes and every pair were further away than the last:cry:

jez did it bloody rain .... but it had/needed to be done and it meant a day for Reo ... 4.5 dumpies and ferk knows how many polys of cement and we'd both had enough ... he's an animal on the shovel filling the mixer .... picked the bags right beside the mixer and he'd just fill fill fill the bugger. Knocked it about two with it running out of our backsides.

next day was a total write off :(
Monday was ..... a tad better and Mr. readimix was at it again .... and we filled the last couple of runs in four hours ... too wet to lay, so Reo called it a day and went off to cut some firewood for his place.
had dried up by three and I set about creating a tool for digging a 4" trench, behind the wall to give us that extra bearing for a 600 wide slab .... sod cutting that lot .... easier to make it all wider

Mk1
WP_20201027_15_34_38_Pro.jpg

a half decent day yesterday and Reo was back laying ..... no idea what it looks like or how far he got .... had to go into town yesterday afternoon  and was dark and covered, by the time i got back .... we'll all have to wait to see :giggle::rolleyes: ...... town was like the Marie Celeste ...

this morning was .............. bloody wet again .... was surprised to see Reo TBH, but he was up for it, so Mk1 got a try out .....
WP_20201027_09_42_15_Pro.jpg

neat eh :giggle: 4" required ... 4" dug ... down to the inner skin .....
and getting filled ...
WP_20201027_09_52_51_Pro.jpg

the grass'll grow back ... as it always does :( ... bit of a trampling won't hurt it ...... too much
next stretch at the far end and then worked back
WP_20201027_11_39_13_Pro.jpg

WP_20201027_12_03_42_Pro.jpg

top two still to do ... but didn't want to get too close to the freshly laid bits today ...... but made a hell of a dent in it ... considering the poxy weather... again ... even Pam was out helping, on a barrow and clearing up/back .... one o'clock and we'd all had enough of a wetting .... but'd got 90% of the one stretch done
WP_20201027_13_31_17_Pro.jpg

just in time for the sun to come out ..... ..... I tidied up and Reo went off to caress his chainsaw again
breakfast went down well 'bout two .... was bloody starving!!

gave Mk1 a few mods after that .... pix next time ... but you'll know what was required .....

subject to weather tomorrow it'll either be (a)Lashing down and I'll get a lie in, 'cos Reo'll be having one too (b) if it's dry I'll be up to open up and Reo'll be finishing off his stone run to the gate pillar, or (c) it'll be too wet to lay stone so this lot'll get some attention from Mk2 ...

few odds an' sods to sort, fore we can start to look at what slabs/flags 're going where.
We're gonna need a few more dumpies first though ...... 'bout 30% left of one out of seven  ... got an email yesterday saying they'm, open though (y) and'll prob.s be able to drop stuff out same day, with luck .... bell 'em in the a.m. and get some sorted. Forgot this afters:mad:

'sa fair ol' wall
WP_20201027_16_16_58_Pro.jpg

an' there's damned near 40 feet behind me there
got in the 'Drema Sunday to move some bags and had no rear/side view screen .... just black, so either blown a fuse some where or yon screen has died ... no image from either camera ?:mad: annoying being blind creeping about in the tight space 'tween shed and trellis ... too wet and busy to be fannying about trying to sort it ... job for a drier day ......
not having a lot of luck with screens ATM ... old faithful's screen didn't want to come up for me last night
at me desk .... did eventually, but I fear it may also be on its way out ..... but is fine once up .... did it again to me this morning , so'll not be knocking it off for a while as I really need me 'puter ATM, for ongoing farm biz ....... sod's bloody law !!:mad:

And on the BB front ..... had openreach's engineer #9 here last Friday ..... Josh from SSE is still giving them sh1t on a daily basis ... changed a couple of junctions, one of which covered me in water, when he opened it up (I was footing his ladder - that he wasn't 'sposed to be up - what ladder???;):giggle:) so that's yet another two 'non existent' fault sorted .. Tidy young fella ... they've all been good, fair play .... had one of these to fix to the top of his triple ladder ..... our pine end is a long way up, round by the wood shed ... a looooong way ... and getting a triple up there is hard work ..... without this ...

38mm thick Dylan .... no choice .. had to be 600s x 450/600/900 .... cleaned 'em ot and had just enough with some size juggling ... and yeh scored on the backs .. get you a pic tomorrow ...... 22mm would look like floor tiles on top of that wall mate .. 's a BIG wall .... I am only planning on doing it once
Aye, Reo'd left two cans in Norfolk ... good job I'd ordered 5 litres ... dunno whether we'll need any more?? 54m2 to put down .... gonna be a lorramuck :rolleyes:

:LOL: 70+ M, plus the step returns, etc ... before we bought Chez Druid there'd been a lower one on the same line ... 6" blocks on a 12" footing, with ZERO drainage behind it ... it apparently succumbed to gravity and a lorrawater one day and laid down for a nap on the driveway
this un is two 9" skins - hollows solid filled ... 9" stone face, 18 " of clean 40mm behind, full depth and 12" perf pipe at the bottom of the 40mm. All sat on a 36" wide footing a good foot or more thick ..... I will be ****ing gutted if this one lies down for a nap ... do it once .. and make sure it'll stay put ;)

but does it have the wheels to roll the ladder up the wall Alex? so much easier to run it 20 odd feet up the wall  .... like the corner idea too
