up at 05.30 to be in Llandough hospital for a loooong hour plus, head first, in an MRI scanner ... again!!

.... at 07.45 a.m. !! don't think they realise it's a 100 mile round trip for me ... done enough mileage this weekend already .. gonna be pushing my luck

I'm claustrophobic ... so it's always a very loooooooooooooooong hour plus

Had a couple of MRI scans(amongst others) in the last few years. Very claustrophobic at first but i managed to chill myself out enough that i’d Probably have fallen asleep if it wasn’t for the music in the headphones. Was more worried about the “any chance of metal particles in your eyes” questions before going in

hearth would fail building regs, need 500 depth minimum from the jambs and 150 either side of the stove.

Just throwing it out there if you are remodelling!

door'll open to a good 45 deg.s Fred and they don't tend to chuck huge lumps on it anyway .... can always either tilt it forward to get a bit more or slide it forward.
the gate in it's a good idea, but I was working to some fairly restricted info., making it ... plus it's months since I last saw it and paid it no attention

Is there anything to stop it tipping over onto a child,I know sometimes they seem heavy but kids can surprise you.

yes Boyo ... couple of cranked lil' brass slide bolts to screw to the skirting or floor, whichever they prefer, to retain the frame in place .

LOL ..... had a season ticket down the local A&E ... "F.B. - left /right eye "
they x-ray yer eyeballs first Boyo .. especially when you answer yes ... but not today ... was in there back in April, so accepted my word for a NO this time ......

C T is the weird one .... they inject an isotope into you as they do it and the nurse leaned across the first time I had one and said ... "it'll feel like you've wet yourself and your bowels have let go, when it goes in" ..... and it did .... but I hadn't .... 'kin weird sensation

as for the claustrophobic bit ..... too bloody right .... worst one was the first I had, in a VERY small scanner ..... and I mean bloody small ..... nose against the tube job - Seimens ..... The Royal Free in Hampstead was much better - two big Philips scanners .... today's was even better and an inch of 'mattress' ... lot better than 90 minutes on a plank
I lie there with me eyes shut and listen to the damned thing clanking and banging away .... and DO NOT open 'em 'til they've hauled me back out ... it's always in headfirst

Cheers Shaun ..... got another one to do now .... Vicki wants one too ... as for't MRI .... been a long day ..... ..... traffic was abysmal, as always ... I bloody hate Caeeerdiff and Llandough's t'other side ..... dunno WTF it was so early .... I was the only one there ...... if I have many more of the damned things, compasses round here are gonna start pointing at me
....... but, I can not complain about our health service .... they're bloody brilliant .. every last one of 'em ... I'd have been dead without 'em, in 2010 and they continue to keep me alive

Didn’t know about the eyes X-ray, just half wondered if it would kinda suck any bits out of your eyeball! I had the contrast dye while having ct and mri, like a cold fluid passing down into your arm. Worst I’ve had was radiotherapy on my neck - being fixed down to a table by a tight fitting mesh face mask while being zapped

Not nice Boyo ..... my mother had a LOT of that and it made her very rough .... hope it did the trick for you

as said earlier ..... 'Twas a loooong day Tuesday .... 90 minutes in the MRI scanner is enough for anyone .... especially a claustrophobic Druid ...

back on the road by ten and home just after eleven ..... traffic much better at that time of day ...

second breakfast and set to sorting the battery cables on the Thwaites ..... she wouldn't start for me the other day, which is unusual and having looked at the battery connections, had decided it was time for some new ones and a good clean up of the earth point on the chassis.
couple of new pole clamps and some fresh ends to the leads and she was away first flick !!

Moved her to a new parking spot behind the 'Drema, for now .... trucks were going to need all the room I could give them when they arrived with the planings.

then spent some time with a paint brush on these .....

... started with the hard bit first .... and had 3 doors done by tea time

been trying to get around to painting these a darker colour for a loooong time ... always something more urgent, when it's dry.

As I've been waiting on the planings and materials to finish the gates, I thought I'd use the dry time to get these done ... another ear ache-er to be ticked off the list, when they're finished !! Plus it'd be nice to have 'em not quite so conspicuous from the top of the drive !!

spent a lot of yesterday, between interruptions finishing off the doors ..

and a bit around the side that has a bit of damage to it .... been there since I bought the box, 30 odd years ago and makes it a bit difficult to roller it, so slapped the brush over it whilst I had it 'wet', after the finnicky bits on't doors.

been on t'other end on/off today, again between interruptions and Clara.
unknown to me ... 'the boss' been sneaking a few pix today

Phone call late afternoon ... was I at home about 6.30 tonight to take delivery of ........ 40t of planings .... you betcha.

another phone call 6:15 from a truck driver for directions, from the main drag and ten minutes later I can hear them rolling down the drive way ... no. 1 in, turned and tipping ...

second one in and turning round, ready to hop into his mates wheel tracks ..

parked him up alongside his mate, so's no.1 could get back out .....

then swapped 'em around, with no. 2 tipped ready to depart....

good job Pam was up in the window taking pix .... I was way too busy 'marshaling' traffic !!
first bloke thought it was a bit tight .... told him it was before I opened it all up a bit .... his boss used to get in and out, no sweat

Nice bit of stuff .... and a good pile of black top for spreading about....

scored a bit of scrap too .... old cast iron cat's eye!!

get the last little bit of the box ends done in the morning and set about relocating this lot to where I want it, perhaps, ... sposed to rain tomorrow evening so don't really want to crack on with the boxes, if they're gonna get rained on . That said .... see what the morning brings, weather-wise .... they never get it right these days !!!!

no such thing as cheap planings anymore, round here ... lots of places/plants recycle them .... can be hard to even find 'em at times .... if you can get 'em straight off the planer, if they're working local, they'm 140 quid a load (20t) .... but can be pretty bloody random stuff .... 8" lumps down

I recognised the lorries as they are around here sometimes. I will won't complain either again at the price as we are around £160 fir 20 tonnes around here. That is night delivery and can up very lumpy!

tha's off the planer then Shaun, if night delivery .... these were from Mike's stockpile at his yard, en route to the night's job and tend to be a lot more 'civilised'

Blimey £160 for 20 tonnes is cheap, a load here is £200 and that is cheap for Kent most companies want £280 plus vat around this way.

aye but as it comes, off the planer .... lumps, crap, cats eyes, drain covers and all ....... if they're working close enough to you, to run to you on the turn around ... which rarely happens
240 quid plus, from their yard stockpile and wait 'til they've time to fit you in .... they're busy as **** .... what comes from the yard, although not screened, is usually a hell of a lot better than off the planer TK
