. been meaning to find it some solids,
I know the feeling. I've a wheel barrow with similar (poxy) rims - one now has a crack from rim, down one rib, around the hub and up another rib back to the rim.
I bought a pair of these - cast iron rim, solid tyres - I paid extra to get supplied with new (not used) bearings.

trouble with solids on a wheel barrow is you feel every bump - at least a pneumatic absorbs a lot of it

Glad to see you steadily getting back in to the swing of things at yer bench.
gonna have to have a bit more lathe time too .... gonna have to do a mod. .... ran it out this morning and the bloody sleeve in the bearing wound its way out ... need to make it a stepped bush to keep it stationary as it has the ability to 'end float' and cause the problem ..
got some nylon bar here and might do it in that ... won't rust then and should be easy enough to disassemble to slip an alternate bush in
annoying though :(

got loads of other things partially done too, that need finishing off

This one has two smallish wheels (250 diam), so it's awful to push. When pulling, the bumps don't matter as much.
guessed it was a doubler - don't exactly need a spare with solids :ROFLMAO: - those double wheeled barrows are buggers to push, for sure :(

sorted the hose reel's issue temporarily ... found a perfect bush in amongst the various odds and sods stashed for 'cuminfas' and opened a 20mm washer up to 21.5mm ......
WP_20250811_13_39_00_Pro.jpg

didn't really want to wind the gennie up just to make a nylon bush/spacer, if I could help it  -- this'll do the job 'til I've got other things to do on the Harrison :giggle: -- works a treat - no more side drift (y)

hell of a thunderstorm going on here ATM

just found some seller's pix of what's on the pallet
View attachment 73408View attachment 73409
and a D1-8 drive plate like this one, but bigger -- for the un-initiated - the D1-8 is the camlock system to lock it to the spindle nose on the headstock - this size is hen's teeth to find and are not cheap - ever

managed to save 200 quid on the package, delivered - happy enough with that ........... and got to meet a hell of a nice guy driving the seven an' a half tonner who delivered it - his wife's a niece of a friend of mine - small world :giggle:

as an example of what this stuff costs ....:(
View attachment 73413

was gonna bang the new four jaw on the Harrison yesterday ... can't even recall why ATM - after the session I've had
pulled these off the pallet when they arrived and stashed 'em away - had given 'em a quick look over, but cursory really as looked fine/as per seller's pix

anyway - grunted the 4 jaw out from one box to another and am stood thinking HTF am I gonna get that up on the lathe's bed and onto the camlock, when it suddenly struck me -- camlock pins and centres looked way too small  - as did the drive plate's o_O ....
WP_20250815_17_11_13_Pro.jpg
WP_20250815_17_06_48_Pro.jpg
checked the face plate - yep full inch pins - t'others were 7/8" which're D1-6 camlocks and smaller PCD - Harrison's a D1-8 ---
WP_20250815_17_14_32_Pro.jpg

Oh bollaux thinks I - HTF did I miss that unpacking them.
came down the house and checked the invoice and listings - deffo D1-8 was what I bought so ... got on to Ben Richardson who runs the outfit they came from (big s/h tooling sellers)

" You're kidding - someone's gonna be getting a slapped wrist Monday - that is an elementary mistake - especially as there was the D1-8 faceplate in the same package - don't panic, we have a couple more 4 jaws on the shelf in D1-8 and a back plate - we'll get them swapped ASAP -- send me a couple of pix to wave under the packers nose on Monday please - anything else you got your eye on ? Can get it all on one pallet " :giggle:

" Funny you should say that - was looking at your listings last night and there're a few bits I'm fancying, if we can have a deal .......... "

Any way .. turns out the 4 jaws in stock are 400s not 300s - which I have no objection to - they didn't have any when I bought the 300 and I have a nice 4 jaw Pratt Bernerd steel chuck, which I wanted the mount for, that I acquired from Cheltenham last year, on my round robin shopping expedition, when I picked up those 6 ft forks & carriage and dividing head :giggle:

so today I thought I'd better check to make sure the face plate went on the Harrison's spindle nose .. wrestled the 3 jaw off onto a board across the bed-ways
WP_20250815_17_37_29_Pro.jpg

and cleaned the nose and cam lock holes with some air -
WP_20250815_17_49_21_Pro.jpg

gave the whole machine a good blow over, while I was at it then grunted the face plate up onto a.n.other board -
WP_20250816_17_40_06_Pro.jpg

WP_20250816_17_40_11_Pro.jpg

having checked it'd clear the bed-ways with the gap still in - it did - just :giggle:
getting said plate from there onto the nose was - er - epic - it's as heavy as it looks
WP_20250816_17_44_46_Pro.jpg

sadly it didn't end there ----- I had it back off and on several times -- Apparently Ben uses 'students' for laccies, for cleaning tooling, etc., pre-listing/sale ... whatever muppet'd been at this, he'd not matched the camlock pins back to where they came from  ... perm 6 in any configuration your like ... took me a good hour an' a half this afters, to get them all to seat to the line .. so's the cams'd lock them in the prescribed travel range

the line should be just visible - most were a lot more than visible
WP_20250815_17_43_52_Pro.jpg

so when the cam pulls them in it locks between the arrows -- now you see it ......................................... now you don't - which'll lock the plate/chuck to the nose -- took some bloody juggling on every one and had to swap a few around a few times :(
WP_20250816_17_22_43_Pro.jpg
WP_20250816_17_23_06_Pro.jpg

got there in the end, but if the muppets had just done them one out/back in, at a time, etc., there wouldn't have been an issue  ... but it's still sat on there this evening (y)

had the three jaw out on the bench - stripped it and gave it a good blast out with 150psi, then re-lubed it as it went back together, then as it wasn't tea time yet, dragged the 4 jaw out for a strip, clean, blast out, lube and re-assembly
WP_20250816_18_06_05_Pro.jpg

and a suss of what I need to do to fit a new D1-8 mount to the back end of it - will need a good polish up, first -- think I may need to get that dividing head cleaned an' ready for action shortly - getting them 3 holes in the right places on the drive plate will be fun !!
WP_20250816_19_30_19_Pro.jpg

WP_20250816_19_34_09_Pro.jpg

cleaned, oiled and ready to get stashed -- 's about my limit, ATM for getting on/off the bench/floor :( ........ and I'm out of pix - again :(

Pam's been giving the garden a good seeing to the last few days and generating vast quantities of prunings/crud, a lot of which was gonna generate smoke/steam - lots of it .. so was a darkness job  well over an hour later .. and it'd mostly gone

was sweltering here Wed.s and beautiful when we left here that morning - did not look great where we were headed, but the sun eventually put in an appearance
now the A465 is FINALLY finished (three plus years late and 120% over budget) Aberavon is less than an hour away (our closest decent beach - when the tide is out ) - would be even quicker if they hadn't stuck a 50 limit on several miles and enough speed cameras to keep the fixed penalties office in beer forever :mad: - lovely road and a lot better than many M/ways - the 50 is pure revenue generation - end of story - ignore the signs at your peril.

and finally for tonight .. this is going to have to be a 'future project' ..... tripped over it last night, watching some guy who was about as enthralling as watching paint dry (and then peel, a year or two later):cry: -- but I did like this - god knows how many dollars it'd cost him, but is a great idea

They are mighty proud of those at over $1000 each.
What are you thinking - a simple hand operated trailer winch?

problem with a trailer winch is it's a bit course on the ratchet .... that is an inch of lift/drop per rev. of the windy wheel .... ideally a helical screw and pinion'd be the way to drive it and wouldn't need any brake/ratchet ;) -- something like a wiper motor set up, but a bit more manly/substantial

A small Radicon type wormgear and a battery drill would work. A bit OTT capacity wise but quickest /cheapest solution might be one of these. About £60

but then need a 12v supply - nice, cheap little winch though
the radicon sounds ideal but maybe too slow .. thinking about it I have a small 240v radicon motor and box somewhere - if I've not slung it  - not seen it in a long time though  - could make an ideal parts donor

well the D1-6 chuck and drive plate are banded to the pallet with 6 bands - then wrapped and banded again over the top - should stay on there -

leaves Wed.s, when the replacements arrive (with a few other nice bits) :giggle::giggle: - pretty sure they'll be right this time
fair play to Ben, he's sorted this PDQ and with a very, very favourable deal on some other nice bits, that would've otherwise cost me a LOT more ... if he'd not been on holiday when the D1-6 stuff was despatched I doubt it would've happened

Will be keeping an eye on his stuff, going forward ;) :giggle:

'nother three binfuls went up in smoke last night -- dunno WTF Pam finds it all - can't be a lot left of the garden to burn :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Why not just stick a overhead rail and trolley above the lathe - iirc it's at the front of the box anyway so easy enough to build something and swing it in from outside?

yeh - have been considering a little swing jib attached to the inside of the door pillar - possibly a folding/articulated one - that'd do away with the need for a trolley/slider - it's bouncing around in the head in the 'design' stages ATM :giggle:

gave this a little try out today - seemed the easiest way to get the pallet off the bench.
WP_20250819_16_43_25_Pro.jpg

however - anyone know if these things are adjustable ... hangs with the toes uphill instead of level - loaded or empty ... like the lift point needs to come back to the upright an inch or three
difficult to see inside it, but can't see any adjustments on the top location to the lift point for the cable which is presumably attached to the gert spring in the upright

glanced at the hr clock on the genny this afters and thought - pretty sure that's 100 hrs up on when I bought it - I was wrong - 's a hundred and five  - has used circa 2/3rds of the 320 ltr tank so around 2 litres an hour - time to refill it, 'fore the weather starts to chill down
20 - 8 - '25 .................................................................................................................................................................................................. 21 - 9 -'18 -- WTF did those 7 years go :oops::oops::oops:

Weld it to the top of the box maybe? Then a couple of posts either side.

issue with that box is it has my sliding/rolling upper deck shelving in it and can't obstruct the width in any way, to be able to roll the decks out the back end, onto forks ... it'll rollover the lathe - just need to drop the overhead light gibbets out the way - they're removable, POP - made 'em for quick removal - if i stick with a door post fixing point, can use the tracking for a lower pivot (with a hole drilled in it) and weld an upper bracket on the post, which won't interfere with the shelving's exit as it's at high level - only has to cope with circa 100-ish kgs max realistically and can make it easily removable.
