It's amazing how obscure a parts they can get hold of cheaply too

I personally prefer second hand appliances and just ditching them when broken
Living in the home counties there are amazing deals from people who have to have the latest stuff usually pay about 25-50 an item and usually less than 2 years old
We saved well over a grand on our range cooker as a grill element had blown

I'll be making use o' them shortly........ our induction Stoves is playing up again and their service engineer is ****ing useless ... wants to leave before he's arrived -- told us it was bollo-ed 9 months ago and been fine since ... it doesn't like power cuts (we get a few) and can take 24+ hrs to get its head together ... pretty sure the control board is on its way out .... when it's working it's brilliant ..... but a PITFA when it's having one of its tantrums. He just could not be arsed and would not listen to the symptoms described
Don't want to upgrade it as they no longer make one with 4 induction and two conventionals ... now 5 induction rings and not all our pans, etc., will work on them -- plus it's only 5 rings

I was shocked, 'cos it felt a f**ks sight heavier than that .... so all up with Rob's ... 1725kgs .... plus 30+ kgs of chuck ..... felt a LOT more

I have no reason to doubt the dynamometer, but will check it with the test weight, when I have five minutes ... and put the two of 'em in line and see if they agree with each other too

I was as shocked as you ... it's el solido it's 10' x 6' internal 3mm bed, 2mm sides, kin heavy tail board, very solid chassis, big ram .... was expecting to see 1.4t

That weight surprises me. I thought it felt about the same weight as my Bobcat 463 (1240kg) on the trailer with all the side boards in place (maybe another 150kg). Hence the 1.4te guess.

It just goes to show how weight distribution can effect the towing characteristics of a trailer. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it

when I pulled away up that hill from yer dad's Rob, it felt a good half tonne heavier than that for sure ..... you didn't leave the brakes on did you ... I'm truly shocked at what it clocked at ?? ... I've towed heavier than that with a lot more ease

it got a bit monotonous after the ninth barrow load ..... 'specially when I had to crack out the magic fire lighter ...

due to it being so ****ing green it wasn't having it, 'til it'd been 'barbied' a bit
she was filling 'em faster than it'd burn

but Pam eventually ran out of things to massacre just as I'd gotten well and truly kippered

Posty arrived after lunch, as I was on a box roof trying to deal with a drip with some flash band .... for now ... "get down yer and sort the washing machine ... they've arrived!" ..... "slight problem; need the oil seal too and that's coming from some where else " "Bugger !!!"

sat having lunch and there's this "did you say you're going to mow the grass, 'fore it pees down for a week? " "er when did I say this?"

was easier to do it than debate it and it'd give me some peace for a while ... apart from Sparty's mitherings so new tactic....

no chance of bungee-ing him down so a bed'd be the next best thing

He loved it ......

saved him doing his usual dance from lap, to bonnet and back every five minutes, and I could give it some, with him safely strapped on
did all the lawn and a couple of passes beside the drive, 'fore he decided he wasn't keen on the angle of operation and baled out .... the side of the drive gets a nap of the earth cut once or twice a year with the Countax and 'twas dry enough today so cut and collect in one hit

looked ok afterwards (few pet rocks for you to ogle Chris @Pond digger )

and'll need it if it's gonna rain for a week, as forecast

lawn's not looked this good all year .....

and Pam's 'pruning' has re-tamed some of her 'gardeny' bit

must get the gate retainers made

Don't you ever try to compost greewaste or was it all crap? Burning can be a pain in the arse sometimes I had to burn a garage worth of roof timbers (woodwormed and full of nails) all in a drum. Took a whole weekend and I stunk for all of it. Wish I'd just took to tip now as timber.

Don't you ever try to compost greewaste or was it all crap? Burning can be a pain in the arse sometimes I had to burn a garage worth of roof timbers (woodwormed and full of nails) all in a drum. Took a whole weekend and I stunk for all of it. Wish I'd just took to tip now as timber.

we have three spud boxes as compost bins, plus a gert pile of grass cuttings, down a bank beside the drive, which gets all the drive's cuttings.

T'other two get grass from around the house and lawn ... and the third, food, spud peelings, fruit skins, general sort of stuff, etc. for composting.
what got burnt was sweet peas .. too woody ... mare's tail, which is damned near impossible to eradicate, so any found gets the burning treatment, convolvulus which arrived on some cuttings Pam got given and is now bloody everywhere and anything else she deems a pest.

All packaging goes up in smoke too ... along with anything that'll burn .... waste collection here is so hit and miss i cannot be arsed to traipse up the drive with it, only to find it ain't been collected on the stated day and have to bring it back ... any wood goes in't wood shed or baskets.

only thing I take up for collection is black bags full of ash and glass, maybe once a month ... which're miraculously always collected as per stated regime ... tins go in me scrap skips
Packaging is the biggest creator of rubbish .... usually two bags a week ... keep threatening to take it all back from whence it came and let them deal with it, but might get banned from Aldi/Morrisons for filling their bins with their crap

thinking outside the box .... can't fault it ....
have done similar, with a 45t Grove TMS475LP ..... in Llanwern hot mill .....
I got picked up by a 100 ton gantry and put on top of the Davey stands one Crimbo shutdown ....
and there I stayed for 72+ hrs providing lifting to the Davey maintenance/overhaul crew and a team working on another 150t gantry replacing the crab and hoist gear.
Used to go into Llanwern on a crimbo shutdown with enough food and drink for 5 days ...... 'cos you never knew when you'd be coming back out ... sleep as, when and where you could ... inside the hot mill you had no idea of whether it was day or night ... 45 Grove's bonnet, behind the cab, made a great bed

guess where we've been the last couple of days ?

did manage to escape for a couple of hours though and caught up with @Delbouy to pick up a few items i'd bought from him over the last few months ..
a very creative chap is our Mr Woods ....

went up to see him, outside of Plymouth, equipped with josh's newly acquired tranny van .... and filled it with all sorts of goodies from Del's Aladdin's cave of a workshop
was great to finally meet him and put a face to the name

Came home with said van tonight to two 'starving' cats ....

Vicki & Clara fed 'em yesterday .... they've not stopped eating all evening ... you'd think I'd been gone a week

Left granny down there with the Golf ....
Also came home to find an oil seal in the letter box ..... so if it's dry in the morning yon washing machine can go back together .... whilst i can still remember how

seems we had better weather down there than it's been here ....

in spite of the bloody weather today, managed to get this back together ....

....... in a few stints, interspersed with torrential bloody rain 'sposed to have been dry all day .... and absolutely hurling it down here ATM

glad to report we now have a stealth washing machine .... can barely hear it run .... and the 'test drive' proved uneventful, with a nice dry floor afterwards ... .. at least under the machine ... outside's been a different matter, most o' the day

Love it ...... 50 ft dia. umbrella on the drawing board ... I've got a shank for it .... 25ft tele ram out of a Grove crane boom .... will extend to circa 45+ feet, so plenty of height to get the 'Drema under it for a lift too ........ anyone got an old parachute going spare
