can't believe how much the green shite has grown since Sunday ..... another haircut this morning, produced a good barrow full again

was just about to get the Dane's battery put on and give her the first trip out, of the season ...........and it lashed it down for a good half hour ... that was the end of that idea ... be like a skating rink
so shipped the barrow full down to the pile and collected up what I'd left down to dry, from around the lower edges, that got massacred with the strimmer the other day and suddenly it was time for the school run

just gotten back with the little un and unloaded her, when a truck pulls into the patch drive-way .. and Pam says WTF you bought now? - rumbled!! .... didn't leave Geordie land 'til late Wednesday afternoon - amazed to see it in 48 hrs TBH.

very happy Druid with what's arrived from David @Tintan28 ... had about 30 seconds to look at it, before dashing off into town with Clara to meet her mummy for her swimming lesson

got it off the pallet when I got back, for a better look and some measuring up

brand spanking .. even had to grease all the pins - empty ..
hopefully the sun is going to make the promised appearance tomorrow and I can get a pick up made for it ... I have a few ideas roughed out, dimensions sussed and materials located ... then it was tea time

had an hour-ish after tea, sussing the oily bits and sorting a pro tem lash up, with what I have to hand ... hopefully got plenty of 1/4" hoses to cobble a trial set up
got no services on the 8015, other than a single acting breaker, so the 6x2 diverter I have sat's gonna be pressed into service ... easiest option is the bucket ram plumbing, with the 6x2 mounted on the dipper ... Might wanna watch this one Kev @Furniss ... reckon the horn button'll provide a nice feed for the 6x2's solenoid - and it's on the RH stick - perfick ... new horn button on the floor, should do nicely

forgot to say that this Häner is nicely made little thing ... anyone sees them about and wants a grab .. jump on it ... also has mount holes for side plates to make it into a clamshell (which'll probably get created shortly) ... very happy with my purchase .. you all missed out on a bargain from Tintan

Häner attachments

Does anyone have experience of any Häner excavator attachments? There are a number of them in unused condition in the upcoming Euroauction and looking at past prices they go for very reasonable prices. I appreciate you generally get what you pay for, however for occasional use attachments they...

Are there plans to make it rotate? I’ve often though electric rotation might be ok on a small tool like this.

to a degree, 'praps ... although I have a very nice dinky little two gallery rotary coupling, actually getting a decent rotation set up AND getting the rotary installed too could be pretty problematic, unless you could find a cute little slew ring ... but is all adding to the weight, which you can ill afford on a small machine
also the problem with leccy rotation is getting a decent enough set of cables up the boom to feed it, etc..

I have thought about doing something using a car brake disc and stub axle. A sprocket could be bolted to the studs to be chain driven by an electric motor so there was no need for slip rings.

Additional bearings could be mounted to support the sides of the disk to stop the axle bending.

I recon the build height could be got down to about 6”.

well I ain't gotten as far as I'd planned today...
up at 02.30 ...
Pam not well - got some sort of gut bug - and both ends were trying to out do each other ...
again just after 04.00, then changing the bed at ten past six, when she didn't make it to the bathroom next door ...
and 07.45 ...
at which point I gave up all hope of any sleep and got up ...
like a zombie and crashed in the chair downstairs for a couple of hours, between interruptions.

So was gone twelve, before her system had calmed down and she'd nodded off, before I got outside ...
had a fair idea of what I wanted to create, so set out some plates, dragged out some 3ph extensions, wound up the genny and got them lopped up with the Meba ..

with some 50mm BDMS bits too ...

Set up the Ajax for some 25mm holes - bit big for the Meddings ..
won't take a #3MT ....

then Harrison time ....

for some more 25mil holes ....
starting to get a collection of bits ....

the two larger plates got introduced to the Kepp belt grinder for a bit of shaping up and fine fettling
re-jigged the Ajax for some 50mil holes ....

love the hole a Rotabroach produces ....
second only to a boring bar/head ....
and left it set up for a few more tomorrow

the angle plate was an easier solution than pulling the vice off the table ...
I have it set up nice and parallel to the bed and really didn't want the hassle of resetting it again ....
By which time I needed some tea .....
I'd been back and fore all day to make sure the invalid was OK, every 30/40 minutes so's been a pretty interrupted session ...
would have been a hell of a lot further if it hadn't been such a sh*tty night and I'd had an earlier start at it ...
been a beautiful day and more of the same forecast for tomorrow
Pam's had a bit of toast this evening, so must be feeling a tad recovered.
Vicki, bless her, dropped off some Immodium and Dioralyte for her at lunch time ..
Knew she was in town this morning so gave her a call, to pick some up and seems to be doing the trick.
Bit more perforating to be done tomorrow, then I can start assembling

interesting idea ... what are your thoughts on a motor?

I was thinking a small cheap 12v winch. The sort of think you can find on eBay for about £60-80.

I already have a couple of these that I repurposed to use as track motors on a little drill rig I built years ago as it was simpler than trying to rig up hydraulic motors.

'nother late start .... after Friday night's shenanigans, didn't wake up 'til ten this morning brekky, feed the cat, feed the fish, look in here and the morning'd all but gone
so first off was get all me leads out, sort whatever I needed to do with the genny running and then get it done ...
but drilled this first with the Meddings ....

and sussed the fit
then bored what I'd set up last night

followed by the lower plate I'd already drilled first

bits out for a trial and see if i'd cut it all right

starting to see where this is going?

the trial made me realise I was going to need a little something extra to achieve the next bit of me plan

worked out a treat

next up .. locking device

dragged some bar stock out and cut some pins, retainer plates and got them drilled, then the retainer pin knocked out .. trial fit

I'd gotten everything fettled up when I had the genny up and running with the Kepp belt grinder (and caught the one pin on the edge of the belt ) so time to see if everything was gonna line up with my setting out ...

and it was time for tea ......
took me an hour to clear up and clean everything down after tea
so assembly's gonna be a mañana job ...
after I've had me hamster juice .. can't believe it's Monday again tomorrow, already ..... just do not know where the weeks go
so get it stuck together tomorrow and then it's time to get oily with some crafty plumbing for Lil' Jake ... tha's gonna be a job all on it's own
