Yeh business and agricultural property looks interesting. Could reserves be built up in private Ltd companies then passed on iht free?

Yes think 1mil figure had been discussed but never bought in.

What's the score with kids? Increased iht threshold if direct descendant?

well Ken's farmed all his life and hadn't declared retirement, (still had stock, was VAT reg. still, getting his SF payments, etc.), so will (should) qualify for APR at 100% on the ag. value of his place ... biz relief is only 50% :( .. but can be better than the threshold ... but may still be debatable, subject the estate's value .:confused: ....
but you have to make up your mind before disposal of the estate and obtaining probate / paying the blood suckers ....
if the estate doesn't realise the value of the estimate, you can claim back tax paid, but if you went on the 50% relief and didn't realise more than £650k you'd be worse off than using the single person's allowance:( .... minefield !!

as for kids ... now't :(.... spouse only is IHT free , but two deceased parents will give £650k, to the kids/estate, provided no relief has already been used up previously from the first's death

I've already printed off 60+ pages of forms ..... for a kick off o_O and we're barely started.

and sticking out in either direction left and right o_O ... be surprised if he didn't have half of it off up the lanes !!!

had a few bargains this week too :giggle: ... picked up a nice ISO 40 cutter & collet chuck the other day off fleabay for a fiver a piece (y)

the face cutter probably be 150 quid new ..... got 33 DA collets, to suit, coming shortly ..... for 28 quid .... steal !! surprising what can be picked up for peanuts, by scanning the ending soon pages, at the right time :giggle: ..... ' course knowing the right time is pure luck, unless yer has a regular scan of what's on there ... both badly listed :giggle::giggle:

got the last few bits out of the drainage trench the other day ... can't remember which one :giggle: been a bit chaotic of late .....

took some wrestling back into a coil after i'd wrestled it into a straight length to tidy up the excess

dropped in an extension for one of the water lines ... the live one ... gravity fed

WP_20190616_18_42_18_Pro.jpg

just as it started to pee down again ..... pulled the stop end off, to find an old style fitting ... so the simple swap I'd anticipated happening turned into a wet swap in all senses ....
combined with the annoying move of filling me one rigger, wresting the end of it trying to get the fitting's insert back out ... ... bloody weather .. been dry all day ... even dry enough to get the lawn knocked down (y)

t'other line will be for a pumped/pressurised supply, when I get the storage tank into the black shed, plumbed in and the pump installed, to feed it ;) .. hence a further need for an electric supply to the shed.:) .... it's all about levels here, when it comes to water, plumbing and planning a system. We have a limited 'head' to play with to get it here :(
must remember to extend that one too :giggle::giggle: ..... after I've lifted it all back out to clean the trench bottom again when it dries up a bit:rolleyes:

'Evening Vin .... nice to see you on here again :) ... take it you've been a busy fella .... Drema' s last task was scratting out that drainage channel above .... get everything in there that I need, then she can fill it up with some clean 40mm ;) and then get some more planings down to crown the patch a bit and level up where necessary ;)

bought her a new on-board refueling pump this week (y) ... one on there's been U/S since I had her :( .... just got to get it installed .... will save a lot of faffing about

brand new complete with non return foot valve ... 67 quid off the usual source for bargains :giggle: .... God knows what it'd be new? 50L/m Jabsco jobbie :)
get some cables into the duct tomorrow, if I can bend over a bit better than today :( ..... did me back in yesterday, carrying Clara out to the car from nursery, I assume ... she wasn't very well, when I collected her, but she's getting a bit heavy, to lug a couple of hundred yards and grand dad ain't what he used to be :( ..... was fine 'til I bent down to put me socks on this morning and summat went twang  ..... been like a cripple all day, hobbling about trying to get things done .... with no sympathy from the boss ... :( .... pop a few more paracetamol before bed and hope for a better start to tomorrow

gramme of paracetamol and 100 mgs of Tramadol (y):giggle: .... but I'm pissed for 15 hrs :( .... like having a new body, but only resort to it in dire need  ... try not to use any of it, but am learning/have learnt to, when really necessary :cautious: .... also have oramorph in reserve ... yet to resort to that though
got some ibuprofen gel which seems to help .... couple of days and it'll have calmed down ;) .... I hope

My old man chews down the odd Diclofenac when he has a sore back. I’m fortunate to not be bothered with it yet. You’ve got to look after number one :giggle:
