Hit windows key. Type update
Then you'll get the windows update screen.
Then you should get an option in there somewhere to upgrade to win 11 or get ready for windows 11.
It should ..give you an option to upgrade .
If not it'll itll tell you that's it's to old to upgrade .
If that the case I'd strongly suggest binning it as it's likely at least 5 years old .
For a business tool a laptop does well to do 5 years.
Ok for home stuff I've a lot older for the kids to watch YouTube on...
Yea, i think most things here are over 5 years old.... more spending required it seams

been a busy day ... Kids arrived at eight - Clara still in her jarmies .. been sick on/ off all night, so no school today - been laid out on the settee all day ... Harper full of beans and bouncing round the house ...
Posty arrived about one with a small package from L&S .... strimmer wasn't right last outing .. drive not disconnecting properly .. means only one thing .. broken spring in the centrifugal clutch, so some replacements ordered Sunday ...
WP_20250508_13_07_18_Pro.jpg

marvellous to be able to get on the 'net Sunday, find something so obscure as these, order, pay for them and have it arrive a few days later
posty'd barely left and my monthly treatment equipment/drugs delivery arrived - no sooner got that checked and in the fridge and Paul the Evri fella's knocking at the door with a parcel .... wanted a 24v x 21W bulb for the work light on the vertical which has one installed above the blade - least the bulb holder is there - bought a box of ten for only a couple of quid more than a single bulb was listed for - was surprised I didn't have any as always kept spares for the trucks and cranes - must've not kept them :unsure:
WP_20250508_14_27_36_Pro.jpg

Vicki arrived earlier than usual to collect the little uns and looked knackered, so said to her that if she had time ('bout an hour) I'd fit her front pads whilst she had a chill with her mum ..... so ..
WP_20250508_15_16_14_Pro.jpg

advisory on the MOT back a month or two ago .... well in need today - on the verge of letting you know  - aside from having to take the carriers off and give 'em a good de-scaling to get the new pads to seat easily, was a pretty standard job (y)
just wrapping that up and about to give it a good blast up/down the drive to bed 'em in and DPD turned up with a boxful of bits for the Golf
WP_20250508_17_53_37_Pro.jpg

rear calipers're seized on that and the pads're welded to the discs again from standing, even though I left the handbrake off -- can see me having to put the chisel to 'em - so easiest solution was a full back end set and have it right for a MOT.

Ran Vicki's motor up and down the drive a couple of times to seat her new pads and she left with the two girls ...
so I got some tools out and installed a chassis socket on the Startrite, before tea
WP_20250508_17_51_54_Pro.jpg
WP_20250508_17_55_27_Pro.jpg

and took a pic of those additional connections Dave @Routy56 -- none the wiser from their nomenclature, so'll have the cover off the next one, as said, and see if I can work out what does what ??
WP_20250508_17_52_19_Pro.jpg

covered it back over with the tarp and was perfect timing for tea :giggle:
could be a day on the Golf tomorrow - waiting for bits for the horizontal now

few more 'arrivals' today :giggle:
WP_20250509_13_20_21_Pro.jpg
WP_20250509_15_22_46_Pro.jpg

and bit the bullet on the Golf ... N/s done after a 3 hr battle with the bloody thing - caliper took some removing off two pads rust welded to the disc - but no where near as much effort as getting the multi splined 14mm torx into the heads of the 12mm bolts holding the carrier to the hub :mad::mad: I would like to meet the twa* who thought they'd be a good idea instead of a nice hex head bolt 🤬🤬
WP_20250509_14_18_12_Pro.jpg
WP_20250509_14_18_18_Pro.jpg

only saving grace on the whole thing was the little solid ali pipe from the caliper to the flexi came off without a fight ... more than can be said for the O/s one 😡🤬

😭😭
WP_20250509_16_51_07_Pro.jpg

I haven't had to make a brake pipe in probably over 15 years  - found some 5mm copper - thankfully - didn't fancy doing this in cunifer and went in search of one of me flaring kits
WP_20250509_16_51_12_Pro.jpg
WP_20250509_16_51_16_Pro.jpg

which I also haven't used in a very long time - had a few trial ends 'fore I could recall how much to leave showing to get it right - 50% of the pipe dia. seemed about right eventually
WP_20250509_17_11_29_Pro.jpg

same battle with the multi torx heads - what a bast**d - zero room on the upper bolt - claimed several bits of knuckle skin getting the bloody thing into the heads
got there eventually though and all bled up for a nice hard pedal
WP_20250509_17_35_51_Pro.jpg
WP_20250509_17_35_56_Pro.jpg

the 'brake debris' is mounting up on the scrap bin lid - I see no point in trying to do anything with these calipers - the wind back on the hand brake elements are 'el solido' ... calipers, discs and pads were 110 quid, delivered.. local factors wanted 65 quid plus VAT per caliper - 35 quid plus, for pads and didn't even bother asking about the discs at those prices :oops::oops:
WP_20250509_18_53_32_Pro.jpg

went to start it and give it a blast up and down the drive - bed thigs in a bit and was flat as a .... - again !! - jumped it and battery light showing - so assume battery is burgered :censored: more expense :rolleyes:o_O:censored: ...... and before i could give it a blast the tea bell was ringing, so thought .. **** it and turned it off -- job for anon
came back to it all after tea to clear up the carnage of tools and bits an' pieces laying everywhere !!

and after getting some semblance of order back to it all - was still light and shirtsleeves, so got the bearings out, the box of guide bits and ......
WP_20250509_19_04_54_Pro.jpg

re-assembled it all
WP_20250509_19_20_37_Pro.jpg

and gapped it all with the blade on the bench - way easier than trying to get it right 'in situ' , fighting the blade's deflection, from 45 deg.s to upright (been there before;))
WP_20250509_19_20_43_Pro.jpg

and as it was still light and 'pleasant' - carried on .....

I’m assuming you have the proper triple square bit and not a torx? I find they’re not bad to get undone, but it’s a bit arkward getting a long ratchet in there when you’re doing it off axle stands and not on a lift!

more for the scrap bin ......
WP_20250509_20_04_02_Pro.jpg

remounted the blade (which isn't in too bad a nick - will get a couple of new ones though) and slid the guides onto it and into position to bolt them back onto their carriers

sliding gasket round the return line, which some 25mm MDPE makes an admirable job of and a feed from the new pump to the flow control tap to the guide carriers and it's job jobbed
's a lovely little saw and still a very cheap unit - reckon I could double me money on it and more .. not the sort of thing you see on single phase  and fully sorted .. will make a nice addition to the equipment stable and be a very convenient bit of gear to use, going forward :giggle::giggle:

yeh - whatever it's called ... bought a set, last time I had to do the pads/discs, some time ago Matt ... the issue is the build up of crud and rust in the socket in the head of the bolts .. the tool is such a tight fit (as it needs to be) that it's an utter bas**rd to get them clean enough to even get the tool started and then work it in ... no way can you get a knockometer to the top one, to tap it in to clear the splines - the bottom one is bad enough - will get under it again before it gets used and fill them with grease --- two post-er would've been a dream - but still very awkward -- as said - would like to meet the twa* who thought they're a good idea :mad:🤬

spline bits i use on the yeti is that what they call triple square they are bloody tight also fit wheel bearing carriers on mine i got some impact rated ones been fine so far.

mine are impact too Charlie - the issue is getting the bloody things into the sockets after several years of exposure to road dirt and wetness .... the top two on the Golf are damned near in-accessible just to get them in, let alone get something into the square to then drive them ... the flange of one of the suspension components is bang centre of them and about 30mm from the drive end with the shortest of the set ... least the bottom ones you can get at with a knockometer once you get 'em started and tap them in

easy enough to get off, with a bar in the flywheel fan fins

FT tight though - needs to be :giggle:
new spring engaged - then off to the vice to get it tensioned and re-aligned to go back together

gave everything a bloody good clean with a can of carb cleaner and a blast off with the air line, 'fore getting it all back together, after i'd had the exhaust off, TDC-ed it and given the exhaust port a good scrape out/decoke
WP_20250510_18_16_22_Pro.jpg

first pull, spool disengaging as it should and running like a little demon ... have had this 15 years - bought it off the outgoing occupants of Chez Druid, the morning we took possession, May 28th 2010 .... he'd no use for it, where they were going and couldn't turn it down at 100 quid - was 18 months old and barely seen action :giggle::giggle:
has done some work for us, fair play to it - been bloody marvellous (y):love:

so far i have been able to get all undone fairly easy, some easier to get at than others i put grease back in the heads when all back together so hopefully easier next time.

it's a good drive if you can get the tool fully home into the socket - a hex of that size'd probably be troublesome - they're FT  -- it's just the issue of getting a tool in, in the first place - I will deffo fill these with grease 'fore using it again

had to whizz into town this morning to replenish the cat food stocks - the best place in town to get it has no parking and a Sunday morning is about the only time you can park anywhere near it - cheaper than online even  - this lot'll last 'em a good month
WP_20250511_11_47_34_Pro.jpg

had a hit on a few other places whilst we were there and then back for me 'hamster juice'.
got that sorted and was determined to give the Kia a hand wash afterwards - absolutely covered in bird sh1t, tree pollen and catkin sort of things - God knows where they have come from, but ...
anyway - took it up me patch, got it clean and looking good, drying off, when we had a hell of a gust of wind blow through and absolutely covered it - AGAIN!!! -- just hosing it off again and it started spotting rain, so thought I'd better chuck a cover over the horizontal band saw on the bench - old mattress protection bag off a new one we had last year - kept it as thought it might come in handy - and it certainly did, as the heavens opened, as I was clipping it down, with some jump lead clips I had sat 'in stock' :giggle:
WP_20250511_17_55_46_Pro.jpg

hell didn't it come down, 'bout five o'clock  and has just eased off about ten minutes ago
as said to @6feetdown earlier - forecast is looking utter shite for tomorrow - hopefully it's gonna change over night :( - rest of the week's mega though :giggle::giggle:
Had Vicki on the dog an' bone tea time, asking us to have Clara tomorrow, as still not well and Vicki has to be in school tomorrow for external examiners for some of her kid's work - so's gonna be a very early start in the morning to go collect the girls

perusing the various VFD offerings on Fleabay last night I found a few interesting items Dave @Routy56
can't quite see how this is soooo cheap, sooo small and run 4hp? might risk one to try though - finding a suitable enclosure may prove interesting as this is obviously intended for panel mounting, which is good from the point of view of wiring security and OK if you have a decent enclosure to fit it into already - 's gonna need air circulation - smart little unit though

been looking for a BIG one for a while - there's a 10hp motor on the lathe - and not had a look yet to see if the motor's suitable - whether I'd wanna chance nigh on 290 quid is another matter, but looks to be the same breed as those I already have, which have performed well (so far ) - couple of years in with the one - intermittent usage admittedly - but does what it's supposed to every time I go to it -- will have to get my head into the back of the Harrison and firstly see if it's suitable ... then give it some serious thought :unsure: the convenience of just being able to switch 'em on is nice - be interesting to know just what their power draw is though, too :rolleyes: - not gonna run 7.5Kw off a 13A, 3pin -- and'd make the meter sit up a bit :giggle:

Thanks for the heads up on this panel mounted VFD unit 👍🏻
May sneak one in the door past SWMBO ready for my 3 phase stuff 😎
