so ... getting back to Chez Druid for a minute ...... lunchtime yesterday and REo'd gotten on .... in spite of a few down pours ....

WP_20200823_13_30_05_Pro.jpg

... home time for him and he'd made yet more progress
WP_20200823_16_12_37_Pro.jpg

still no cropper and i'd been watching him splitting stuff earlier in the day .....
so thought I'd give it a go ... club hammer and bolster sought out and had an hour or so splitting, 'fore tea got called ..... made a decent pile for him ..
WP_20200823_19_52_16_Pro.jpg

WP_20200823_19_52_26_Pro.jpg

he seemed well happy to see it all this morning :giggle: ........ not such a difficult task, once you've been shown the basics, after watching the maestro perform. Didn't drop too many bolleaux sussing the direction to split it .....
Lights get checked each night ..... just in case, while the wall is still 'soft' .... steps're fine so far and so're the next two, too ....... plus the full string up the drive ...
WP_20200823_21_14_26_Pro.jpg

much drier start today and with a pile of precut to hand he was out the starting blocks like a greyhound after the rabbit  .......hamster juice day, but we had Clara for several hours, so didn't get done this morning ..... brought a bag down for Reo ,with a new co-pilot and moved his sand bags closer to the mixer for hom on the return trip ....
WP_20200824_12_48_13_Pro.jpg

first time she's been in a 'live' machine ..... loved it ...... granny's real handy to hook the dumpies on the bag lifter, which makes life so easy for chucking 'em about ... and saves me a lot of climbing up and down ..... 'Drema's a long way in the air when you're in/out a several dozen times a day :unsure:

trundled back up the patch and got hold of that pallet of bricks to relocate them and'd just finished doing that when ....... "beep" ..... and this came on
WP_20200824_14_22_24_Pro.jpg

never seen it before, so was all stop and go find the book to confirm my first thoughts of ... 'blocked return filter' .... no untoward noises and all seemed 'normal' ...
sure enough ... diagnosis/guess was spot on .

just enough time to get back up and whip this off, 'fore lunch got called .......
WP_20200824_14_34_51_Pro.jpg

was a very cautious removal, expecting pressure, behind that lid, so it got quietly eased / slacked off, 'fore getting to this point and had to pry it up gently ... so nowt lurking in the way of the pressure, that I'd expect from a blocked return ....... Hmmm!

munchies scoffed and back up on her ...... accompanied by the new co-pilot ... "what you doing grand dad" she wasn't quite as clean after a few minutes up there with me ....... but then neither was I :giggle:
WP_20200824_14_52_07_Pro.jpg

top off, complete with magnetic wand ..... hmmm! ... oil level in't filter matched the tank ... so tugged it out a bit and let it drain back into the tank
WP_20200824_14_53_25_Pro.jpg

deffo no back pressure in the housing ..... wiped the wand off, but nothing spectacular in the sludge ...
WP_20200824_14_56_20_Pro.jpg

but obviously metallic in origin ..... didn't feel like anything untoward ...... filter's been in there, circa 400 hrs and drained fine, running freely
ooops!!

WP_20200824_15_19_20_Pro.jpg

not quite as orange as mine were though
Mummy'd arrived so 'twere home time for my new co-pilot ...... but not before she'd had to do my 'obs' for me treatment ...... Mitt wash completed and I had to have my temperature and blood pressure taken ..... she's gotten quite good at it really ... knows just how and what to do, fair play ........ Pam is always 'miffed' / envious of my 'obs' results ... perfect every time ... no matter what I've just been up to ...... two minutes sat getting 'em 'down' /chilling and I'm always 120/75-78 with usually 68 BPM :giggle::giggle::cool:
so they went and I was compelled to sit still for two hours :(

Reo'd been gone an hour by the time we'd finished and I got back out side for today's pix ...

WP_20200824_17_16_55_Pro.jpg

WP_20200824_17_17_20_Pro.jpg

:love::love: another day's stunningly lovely progress ....... he really was worth the two year wait ..... and he's such a nice guy, to boot.

So ...... filter in a bucket on the bench and got a serious blowing out with the air line ....... with little effort ..... did find these rubber crumbs in the bottom ...
WP_20200824_17_37_47_Pro.jpg

so doing its job (y)
All cleaned off and dropped back into spot, I turned my attentions to the switch ......
WP_20200824_17_48_39_Pro.jpg

WP_20200824_17_48_54_Pro.jpg

giving some pretty peculiar readings with the meter TBH ..... varying from open circuit to closed and also going to earth from one pole, so I think we have the cause right there .... stuck it back in after showing it some air, and is now performing on/off tricks ...... new one required IMHDO ... that'll be expensive ... for sure !! :(
" Fig, 3.6.1. -- blat 1 von1 ... part no.12 001 528 .. Verschmutzungsanzeige " or to you and me "Clogging indicator" :rolleyes::giggle:
WP_20200824_23_48_42_Pro.jpg

conversation to be had with Dave at Hydrema in Yorkshire tomorrow .. and we'll have a filter too ...... just in case ....... curiously there's no part no. for the by pass gauze unit ?????:confused::(
think I'll have a n other seal kit for the second leg ram too, which's started to weep intermittently on the gland ... 'tother is a PITA and is going to have be done very shortly ..... so "in for a penny ... etc." ... will have the bucket ram kit too, which has also started weeping at the gland ...... 's already been a bloody expensive month .. might as well go for broke :ROFLMAO: .... better order another drum of Plantohyd, while I'm at it ...... there is bound to be 'losses' doing that lot !!!!!!!!

Hauled one of these down this evening, after tea ....
WP_20200824_19_01_01_Pro.jpg

to shift this lump out the way
WP_20200824_19_01_23_Pro.jpg

and up the wall length .. save lugging them about and me trekking back down with the 'Drema, 'til we need another bag down !
'S all looking good ......

WP_20200824_19_59_23_Pro.jpg

and SWMBO (an' me) are well happy with it all
Reo tells us today, that he has to go back to Norfolk, at some point, but wants to get all our stone up first ... estimates 12 good days .. as in DRY!! ... tomorrow does not look likely to be one of 'em and Thursday 7 pm 'til Friday 7 am, they'm forecasting 45 mm of rain :oops:o_O:censored: ... at least it's overnight

will give me a chance to get all the remaining 9" hollows filled with concrete and source some capping flags, ready for him to top off with and get it all pointed up ... don't envy the man that task ... but says it doesn't bother him ... just sits/stands there and plows it in
and now it's time for bed ... got five dumpies and 25 bags of cement arriving at 07.30 ........ an' it's 'sposed to be lashing down 'til 11 tomorrow  🤬 .......🖐🖐

and it's ****ing lashing down :mad::mad::cry: ...

light is coming on/off intermittently ..... really can't see the filter being clogged at the hrs it's done and no horrible noises .... who knows??
new switch first and see if it still shows up ? ....oil is running back into the tank OK when you turn her off ?
anyone have any thoughts on the subject ..... oil is clean enough

that filter's well over 100 quid .... an expensive item for a max of 400hrs?:unsure:

Maybe a cheap option first is to get a return filter gauge. Then you will see if it’s clogged or not via the gauge. If it’s fine then fit a new switch?
of course it depends on the cost of said switch......

Presuming the switch is there to sense back pressure could you remove switch but leave wires connected and put a blanking of plug in and operate for five mins to see if it still plays about

the breaker line goes in at the top of the filter housing. beside the steel return line James ... and it's a rubber, so'll hunt out a test tee, plumb it in and put a clock on it... got a 40 bar, 100 bar and 400 bar clocks so might start with the 100 and go to the 40 if i can get away with it, but'd be surprised to see a huge pressure .... any idea what to expect ... couple of bar max I'd have thought ............ when / if it stops pissing down .... just unloaded the second delivery and am now going to change ... 'kin drowned

some where I have a plug I made up a while ago, when the pressure switch on the travel valve let go, a couple of years ago ..... it'd certainly be a fair indication of the switch condition .. open to atmosphere .... might still 'clock' the return pressure though ... just to check ;)

No, fit the gauge in where the switch is 👍

not an easy one James:( .... tiny 10mm fitting ..... got now't like it to adapt a test tee to ..the breakers return line is in the same filter case casting, just at 90 degs from the return port and in the same upper chamber, with nothing to interfere with getting a pressure reading in the upper chamber above the filter ... both ports are direct into the top of the filter chamber, pushing oil through the filter .... and I've got a 3/4" BSP test tee I can mount a gauge up to in minutes ..... too 'kin wet ATM though 🤬

It’s no good using normal gauges, there will only be a few psi of back pressure.

unless it is blocked
my return is built into the top of the tank James

filter is lifted about 3" in this pic
WP_20200824_14_53_25_Pro annotated.JPG

looking at your gauge pic ... seems up to 1.25 bar is an acceptable back pressure ? one of those gauges seems a reasonable diagnostic and'd probably fit the switch port ...... see if I can find one, some where

There will be a bypass valve so it will never build that much back pressure. The gauge and your switch should let you know that the filter is blocked probably before it is enough pressure to open the bypass.

I would hope so James ..... can't recall if I said that the light is still on with the switch removed from its port ... I'm going with a switch fault .... ;)

Just had a price back from the guys i got me drum of plantohyd from a while back ....was £360.08+ VAT , reduced from their original quote of £637.55 , after I told 'em they were taking the piss and sent them a competitor's quote ....
today's price 1 x 205 litre @ £581.45 + VAT ..... might just get a competitor's quote again and see how they respond to competition :rolleyes::giggle:

Could be wiring gremlin also. Can you not test switch by either joining wires together or not?

with the wires disconnected the light is off Gaz ... the one pole is showing to earth and it's showing closed circuit across each pole on a meter .. oddly t'other pole doesn't show to earth so guessing there may be a diode in play in it somewhere ? .. I've emailed the guys in Hydrema, Ripon for a price for it, a filter and a couple of ram seal sets .... I shall be sitting down when I open the reply

no it won't ..... 'least not in a good way ... last one was 132 quid including freight ... plus the Vodka & Tonic  .... hence the multiple parts inquiry ... shipping ain't cheap from Denmark .... get it all in one box .. leg seal kit was 100 quid, plus15 quid for the jiffy bag and VAT on top of all of it .... great tool but spares're not cheap

it has been one hell of a day here and worse still this evening ..... power's been on/of like a whore's draws ..... a few months ago there was talk of UPSs ... think Alex @Cyberprog and @Lancs Lad ? were firing suggestions at me for a suitable unit ... any chance of a refresher on those guys, please .... it has done my swede tonight .. old faithful is gonna die if it gets much more of this abuse 🤬
have had to re-position the sand bags on the poly tunnel twice already today and just been and checked / re-done it now, 'fore I hit the sack ... I will be surprised if it ain't in a bad way if this keeps up all night ..... wildest I can recall it in a very long time .. August be bolloxed !!:cry: .... there'll be some trees down in the morning
