Tbh American prisons look truly miserable and people there still commit crimes even the death penalty and home protection laws doesn't work
Dubai seems to work cutting there fingers off but considering the type in the video I posted earlier I think we would struggle to get that law passed
The only thing left is to make it more profitable to actually go to work
This would involve making it very difficult to get stuff through the ports
And making second hand equipment dealing a nightmare

you get sent down for a crime against society (i.e. ANYTHING that gets you banged up) and your 'rights' are left behind at the entry to the system ...
you will be a number, nothing more and you don't get your name or rights back 'til you've served your time..... ALL OF IT
murderers, terrorists, etc. get the long drop/firing squad ..... WTF has Peter Sutcliffe and his like cost us to keep for decades

well, with respect Bri, I'm sorry you disagree with my opinions on the low lifes we are all forced to suffer in our society ...... but ... if you'd had two cars nicked, several bikes nicked/damaged in the attempt, your home ransacked three times, with irreplaceable possessions lost, you business premises turned over/ransacked in excess of a dozen times and thousands of pounds-worth lost .. to say nothing of the damages caused in the process .... and had to confront quite a few of these thieving scum on several occasions, in the middle of the night .... then you might have a different opinion of my opinions ...... the only way to deal with these scumbags is HARD !!
I, like most others on here, have worked hard all my life, to achieve what i have and take MASSIVE exception to these lazy, lowlife, thievin' b'astard scum relieving me of what I have earned, bought and paid for !!

Only issue is that it sometimes backfires. They did similar with community service planting flowers in Torbay a while back..... One finished his time but said he wanted to stay and finish the job...... A few months later and the word written in flowers revealed why
In all honesty the only way you will deal with theiving scum is to make it the most undesirable thing to be...... f**k the prison sentences, just remove all NHS, welfare and other benefits and place a +20% tax on anything they are proven to of stolen.
Steal £1000 worth of tool, your now elegable to pay back £1200..... Don't have the money, that's fine HMRC are keeping it on there records for when you can pay.
Prisons aren't effective as there not undesirable enough. But what is more undesirable is a harsh reality after someone comes out that they have f***ed there life completely..... Tax em to death.

We went to Jamaica on Holiday about 14-15 years ago they wear building a new road between the airport and the area we stayed. I was watching the machines at work from the taxi window and noticed these 6 or 7 guys in orange boiler suits (most of the rest of them were in shorts and vests) tying wire in a bridge or culvert. Then i noticed the guard with his riffle watching over them

they need to be removed from society as they contribute **** all and cause now't but misery to their victims ... 3 strikes and you're out/gone/permanently incarcerated .....and no longer a blight on decent law abiding folk's lives .... and by incarcerated I mean HARD time
