Deutz engine check-over

I thought I was on holiday, but the the gods had other plans.
Today, a Deutz 3.50 fell on it's side and it took a few hours before it was back on it's feet.
Apparently it stalled as it fell, so wasn't running without oil.
As always with an engine that's been on it's side (or worse), I want to check the cylinders for oil before turning it over (under power).
Haven't looked, but expecting to find a Deutz F3L 913 under the bonnet.

It's not an engine I've worked on, so any words of wisdom appreciated.
I was told it has glow plugs, but the manual doesn't show any.
I was hoping for glow plugs as removing the injectors looks like a PIA and requires a crows-foot and torque wrench to put the fuel lines back together.

At this stage, my plan is to remove the starter (a 3-week old Mahle) and turn it over from the ring gear

I had a Deutz 6.10 & I thought it got its cold start heat from the intake manifold. V8Druid would be the one to ask.

If it's been sitting overnight I'd say anything that drainer past the rings during the three hours it was down should be back where it belongs. I'd try to turn it over manually as you suggest.

It’s what I do!
Unless it had low oil to start with, measure the oil on the dipstick, manifold heater or excess fuel on the injection pump for cold starting, we ran loads of those on our big comps back in the day, I can’t quite remember🤷‍♂️

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better

don't think those air cooled have any preheat

Could have been worse.
Getting the starter out stumped me. It's held in with two bolts (12 and 6 o'clock) and one stud+nut (3 o'clock).
Undoing those was no worse than most starters (ie. awful), but without removing the stud, it couldn't move enough to extract.
I gave up on that approach and simply put a spanner on the alternator pulley nut and turned the engine over slowly - there was nothing to indicate a problem, so bolted the stater back in and hit the key.
It started fine, but didn't rev well - like it couldn't breath properly

After a few squirts on the throttle, it blew the slip-joint on the manifold and then reved fine !

I got the pleasure of diving it home - the noise earning a few disapproving looks.

The exhaust will be straight forward if one is available off the shelf - in Oz, (almost) all tractor exhausts point straight up, to reduce fire risk.
The cab (ROPS) is skewed and will take more than a little brute force before the front & back windows will close.
The only broken glass is the top section of one door - easy to replace, not sure how tolerant of a bent cab it'll be.

Thanks for the suggestions.
