A few more pictures of what we’ve been doing lately. Just finished some work in the new metro tunnel cutting and breaking out emergency exits. Glad I don’t have to go there everyday the climb down was a nightmare we also put a hammer on the little pc138, and been pleasantly surprised so far The cheap Chinese hammers performing well. It’s been breaking and loading slabs in a yard from a big cut and lift project in Abu Dhabi

There was cracks on the top of the boom Grah, they pulled the pin so the arm would fold right down to make it easy on the welder.... why they didn’t just do it in the lay down area where they were going doing the welding

Got the marina job finished out a few weeks ago, was a tough slog at the end but we got there

Well not so much plant work lately, cutting out 3 levels of a car park in a hospital in Abu Dhabi, some heavy beams 2.2m x .7 deep. Blocks are been taken to a lay down area nearby then broken and sent to landfill. Will be my last major project in the UAE for the foreseeable future anyway, moving home to Ireland next month so see what we can do there, getting married in early August so hectic few months ahead

Well having spent a slow week on lockdown, thought I’d stick a new post up on here. Not had a single bit of luck since moving home, and being honest if I knew what was ahead would have stayed where I was. Bought a site and part of the plan was to start building soon as we got home but it’s still not got going partly due to incompetent solicitors and other the dreaded banks/mortgage. Long story short had work lined up to go self employed but banks wouldn’t talk to us unless I had 6 months working for a company, so got a job as a site manager for a groundwork’s company working for a top developer, all going well until they went bust and i was 2 weeks short of mortgage approval, with banks now saying sorry you have to start again So I lined up a new job with one of the top demo boys here, all good to go, cue the start of the corona pandemic and that came to a crashing halt. So I picked up some work on an 8 ton doing services on a new development which lasted a week and a half before we were forced into lockdown. Best part of it all I’m not entitled to any pandemic payments because I started a new job after the government announced them, should have stayed sat on my arse!! Anyway, the bad luck can’t keep going I hope and in the grand scheme of things, were a lot better off than most, just wished I had gone with my gut which was to plough on with the original plan. We have a baby girl due in June, so exciting times ahead let’s just hope she brings a change in fortune! Hope all you lads are staying safe and get through this pandemic!

Have you not got the Jake and CX130 still to go and do a bit on the side?

Yeah Graham, definitely not having a great run of it , but could be a hell of a lot worse off given the current climate, and I’m sure we will get back on track eventually! If not can get back on a plane out of here!

Rory still have the case and 3cx also added a mint little kubota 008. Strongly thinking of chopping in the jake for a tidy 2.7 ton mini digger. Plenty of time to think about what to do over the next few weeks that’s my nephew in the picture, he’s more into mechanics than plant

That k008 looks a very tidy thing, most are beat to death now.

Yes it’s exceptionally clean, came from a good home and all totally original, got a little kubota breaker with it too which is like brand new. It was a case of right place and right time when that came along

Well I’m almost a week into lockdown 2.0 for construction here in Ireland and thought I may as well update the old thread. Been working with one of the top demo companies here since late may after the first lockdown ended and it’s been going great. Really enjoying the work (much the same as what I was doing in Dubai) and working for some really good people. Still struggling along with mortgages and the new build and all the rest of it due to covid but hopefully another few months will sort that all out. Few pictures for those looking. Just finished a city center demo of a 4 story + plantroom office block, took a month from the brokk starting to wrapping up which was fair going, and was a week into an 11 story project when second lockdown hit.

Started on an old bowling alley and arcade which is being redeveloped into apartments..... some serious amounts of sh*t to take out of this building, punched a fair hole in it in two weeks and will be ready to start knocking the building mid next week, got the 954 high reach dropped off to site this morning.

I’ve got a pair of bowling shoes that I woke up in after a Christmas do in Blackpool... Fair swap for a knackered pair of Converse I reckon!!!

There were hundreds of the damned things, been handing them out to locals for souvenirs loads of bowling balls too and about 100 pairs of new bowling shoes
