Hi all,

New to this forum, any forum in fact...

I hope someone can help, I've got a bridge crash damaged 5.5t 2021 Kobelco. Boom and Rams all in hand but I'm struggling to find either a replacement cab (Kobelco want £20k) or someone that can repair the existing?
It needs structural steel work as you can see from the picture, it's twisted but not badly and it lifted off pretty square too. More available if it'll help.

Not sure how that would ever be ROPS certified again if repaired? Surely it’s a new cab I’d have thought?

Cab is the most important/only safety structure on a machine and not to be modified altered or repaired end of. I thought taki cabs were dear at 7k 🙉

That's a tidy job on the Kubota.
I was hoping to be able to work with a cab repair specialist. I can get it tested and re certified once repaired, I wanted to cut out the middle man ideally.
Thank you for your responses.

I think a lot depends what you want to do with the machine. If you are thinking of selling it or putting it out on self drive hire you are going to need it fully certified which if you are not going to buy new will be difficult and expensive I would imagine. If you are just using it yourself and decent welder would be able to knock up a four post canopy to fit the existing fixings for reasonable money I would suggest and still be pretty safe if you used the right tube and copied an existing design off something else.

To be fair I reckon most fabricators could put together something 10x as strong as the original. Always surprises me how little meat is in engineer designed items as opposed to fabricator designed.

I've spent time in tractor cabs and wondered if the piss poor welds I was looking at would survive a roll 😅
