I'm no expert on vaccination by any means but my understanding is this vaccine is not a cure it just lessens the severity of symptoms to C19 and gives your immune system a head start on fighting the virus infection. This means you recover from it alot quicker and have less long term effect and likely not to need hospital treatment. But it also reduces your infectious period so you are less likely to spread it to others. It's this part that helps for everyone around you. Some people can't get the vaccine for medical reasons and it's those who are vulnerable and anything that can help those in my view is worth it.

exactly ... doesn't stop you catching it, carrying it, spreading it, etc. .... just ups your 99.8% survivability rate a notch or two ... :rolleyes: ...... them that have had it still need to follow all the 'rules' for them that can't ..... like Vicki, who's preggers and me that have enough issues already, etc. :oops: .... a vaccination is not a right to roam at free will and return to a crowded room with impunity ..... you could still get it and give it to all and sundry

@Quattromike since when is the individuals health the collectives responsibility? I'm sure you mean well when you say the more who have it protect those that cant but is it right that people should have their freedom of choice, with vaxx (and lockdown for that matter) taken away, to protect those who are vulnerable. At the end of the day these vaccines have emergency approval only, effects with other medications, upon pregnancy and fertility are unknown and wont be for some years. Being forced to partake in a mass vaccine trial is not my idea of free choice.

spot on .... if you're 'vulnerable' keep yer head down ..... I take my chances and only do what I have to ... otherwise contact is at a minimum and at 3m when necessary ... distancing is always going to be a key factor in this.

I'm don't have a clue what's going on with the current stuff, but I used to know an old dude with leg braces from polio. Public health vs private choice is too complicated for this digger to even pretends he understands.

Out of interest @V8Druid what will be the catalyst for you to go back to old normal? I've just this minute read Wales are relaxing the family reunion restriction a week early. Apparently only 89 people in Wales now in hospital with covid 19. I bet they have more than 89 hospitals in the country? I suppose once the fuss and cases per 1000 people drops to a low enough level? Although unsure how you would know what a good number is being as we've never had this kind of stats on normal flu.

it's an interesting Q Jim ..... one I really don't have an answer to TBH ..... close circle is already just that .... I trust them enough to not worry about being around them ... strangers are likely to/will be kept at a distance for quite some time in my world ... as I said earlier, distance is the key thing in this IMHDO .... Pam's sister and hubby here yesterday .... first time in months, but TBH I'd not have worried about them at any point in time ... Ann's had the big C and is considered 'vulnerable' still ... Gareth works for himself and is ultra careful .. they have a new grand daughter and are as cautious as I am ..... Clara is our biggest risk and to give her her due, even at 5 she is careful around us, but back in school, so ...... collecting her is a.n.other risk - masked and distanced around all others.
the big thing is that, all the 'smugs', who've had the jab, need to get into their heads is ..... they are as at much risk now as they were before - simples ...
keep yer distance and avoid contact STILL, for the foreseeable. ATM
I will still go slinging for me mate Russ, I do go into supermarkets when we need to, but choose my times .... go in the local garage shop, regularly ... if there're too many in there i'll wait ...... biggest restrictions for me have been 'the rules' more than anything .... my self preservation instinct is fully functional and woe betide anyone invading my space
the youngsters, who the lack of socialising venues/events/etc., has affected most don't give a flying **** anyway and they're the ones who need to learn what two metres looks like ....... anyone know where i can get a two metre cattle prod from for 'live demonstrations' ;):giggle:

I really feel for the youngsters. The virus would have little effect on them, but they have been sacrificed to "Save the NHS" and will be the ones who will have to pick up the tab from the money printing machine. In normal times they would be having the best times of their lives doing all those things that are more difficult when you have responsibilities and what have they had? Locked away and blamed for killing people. For ones that would have been starting work it is even worse. A lot of recruitment on hold and when it does open up they have to compete with the next lot of school leavers and older people who have lost their jobs. Ones who should have been doing exams have had a complete lottery of results depending on how much your teacher likes you and massive grade inflation wiping out the differential hard work would have given the studious. I don't envy their situation one bit.

Just had a pint in a pub garden. Turned up at the Premier inn I am staying at only to find people in the garden. Having been told at last weeks premierinn they wouldn’t be opening until they could fully open.
Anyway, dumped my stuff and went for a pint - no real ale on tap so a bit of a disappointment, but had a bottle of Doom Bar. Served far too cold in a cold garden being attacked by a steady stream of biting insects. Whole atmosphere was a bit subdued. A couple of family groups in, but mainly contractors staying in the hotel trying it for the novelty then heading back to their rooms for take away. A bit of an anticlimax really.

Possible side effects.

This happened yesterday and is important information for our age group.

A friend had his 2nd dose of the vaccine at the vaccination centre after which he began to have blurred vision on the way home.
When he got home, he called the vaccination centre for advice and to ask if he should go see a doctor, or be hospitalized.
He was told NOT to go to a doctor or to a hospital or drive a vehicle, but return by taxi to the vaccination centre immediately and pick up his glasses.

Well...just for the sadistic buggers I'm still alive..had jab midday Friday..felt fine untill midday sat ...not major just tired like that flat out all day 8pm no tea feel..iukwim😂 arm a tad sore like it's bruised but that's it but that's maybe from working all weekend on my own jobs😏...I'll be pretty disappointed if this vaccine passport doesn't happen...was looking forward to pissing off a few anti vaccers with it👊😂
