Why did you decline ?I must officially be getting old. As the one that was deemed most at risk I have finally had the call to go and get jabbed. Politely declined.

keep trying to persuade me every two weeks .... forget itI must officially be getting old. As the one that was deemed most at risk I have finally had the call to go and get jabbed. Politely declined.
I am very cynical of vaccinating for this virus using a quickly cobbled together vaccine that has never been done before in the timescale that it has taken. The virus is bad news if you are over 70 with underlying conditions. I am not. I dont live in a city. I don’t work in a high risk factory. I don’t use public transport. I play in dirt and crap for a living and my immune system has served me well for the last 54 years. I also think more people have had this without knowing and I suspect my last 2 bouts of flu and illness may have been my reaction to having this over 12 months ago. I await with interest to see what developments there will be regarding future travel and vaccine passports. At the moment I am happy to see what the next flu season brings. In the meantime I will let my DNA do what it does without interference from something that might turn out to be a medical breakthrough, or might be a disaster. Why did you decline ?
Would you recommend that your family members get it ?I am very cynical of vaccinating for this virus using a quickly cobbled together vaccine that has never been done before in the timescale that it has taken. You forget a great majority are mushrooms...this is an irreversible alteration to people's DNA Vin - once in you it can not be removed ... it is a permanent alteration of your genetic code ..... it's everyone's individual choice ....... but choice should be fully informed and the great British public are being treated like mushrooms![]()
I'm the opposite regarding having lived in London since just before this all kicked off, went to clubs, gigs, covent garden until they were stopped, have used public transport on occasion, mostly empty down here n funnily enough study showed no sign of it on tfl vehicles and stations, worked on hs2 since last Feb,including boys from Merthyr three of who eventually got it ,after week end house party during Welsh firebreak!I am very cynical of vaccinating for this virus using a quickly cobbled together vaccine that has never been done before in the timescale that it has taken. I’m asking because I’m genuinely interested in Shaun’s take on it. His circumstances are almost exactly the same as mine . I happen to think that all the years working outside gives us more protection to viruses etc than people working in offices factories etc , I’m 55 and touch wood I can’t recall ever having flu or a cold bad enough to keep me off work . I only came down on the other side of the fence from Shaun when I found myself in the position of trying to talk my 80 year old mum into having it .this is an irreversible alteration to people's DNA Vin - once in you it can not be removed ... it is a permanent alteration of your genetic code ..... it's everyone's individual choice ....... but choice should be fully informed and the great British public are being treated like mushrooms![]()
As I understand it, it doesn't alter our DNA at all. It gives our immune system a dose of covid so it can lock into into the bodies immune system. Same as mumps, measles, rubella etc.
The figures now all the coffin dodgers have been vaccinated are looking really good, hospitals getting quieter and less deaths so there must be something to it.
I want to go abroad in the autumn and for sure they will want some sort of immunity passport so will get it soon as its offered.

If you go way back in this thread Vin ... Mrs Shaun is a research scientist and her take on it is, she won't be advising any of her family to have itI’m asking because I’m genuinely interested in Shaun’s take on it. As @V8Druid has said. The RNA vaccine will do unknown work inside the body. My wife works in medical research and the things I have learnt in the last 13 years is how they will manipulate data. I have 2 children from previous marriage. They are both in there 30 and are aware of my wife’s concerns. They are old enough to make an informed adult choice that reflects there circumstances. Fortunately my 8 year old child and all the grand kids (all under 4yrs old) are not in line for a jab. What will be will be. I also have family history with auto immune diseases. I don’t currently knowingly have one. I don’t fancy messing with my dna in case it stimulates one. Time will tell and for me.....still happy to sit this out for now!!Would you recommend that your family members get it ?
Fair enough Shaun I can see how you came to your decision ! and also how it’s clear cut for Graham as well . I suppose we have to all make our own informed choiceAs @V8Druid has said. Sorry @fred you are missing the science. The messenger gives a message to your DNA to produce the spike protein. The spike protein should then stimulate the immunity against the spike. The reality is we don’t know what the long term effects are of this. It has not previously been done.the pfizer one is purely synthetic but it doesn't change DNA either, they just made the vaccine synthetically instead of using common cold virus.

The method they use has been around for 30years in vaccine production.I thought the Oxford vaccine was based on existing flu vaccines? They’ve been around for a long time - do they alter your DNA too?
or not!........... What is it that governments think they know that caused borders to be closed, furlough schemes and mass money stimulus around the world?
When I find the answer to that question I might want to be first in the queue for a jab!!
