Yep I think they are taking a different approach to severe cases and you don't get to the point where ventilation required. I think where patients have been put on to a ventilator they find it really difficult to get them off again.

I do believe the first lockdown helped the NHS but now I think we just need to get on with life. Someone told me there is still more people dieing with the flu then CV19 but there is no flu lockdown. as with every year those at higher risk or vulnerable should get or have extra precautions but largely the population needs to get on with it now imhho.

I don't see anyone has an exit plan that doesn't include a vaccine, other than 'let it rip and see who dies'.

One interesting observation is that areas heavily affected by Dengue are relatively unaffected by CoV19 (Dengue seems to provide significant resistance)

very interesting read Boyo .... and yeh I bet it was .... a killer, but more treatable than Covid .... but only a limited immunity.

we're all going to have to live with this for quite some significant period of time .... and live in a very different way ..... as Rory has said previously

IMHO we are holding onto the fabric of civilisation right now and I can't see it continuing.

and TBH I don't think he is that far off the mark in certain respects

as for all the local lock downs .... it's time they put the military on the streets/roads and took tighter control of movements .... we're surrounded here by areas in lock down and the majority of their populous don't give two f***s .... those that do are hunkered down and letting the majority carry on with their irresponsible behaviour, waiting to come out the other side, hopefully unscathed.
Enforced 'ring-fencing' is the only way a lot of these areas will be properly contained and prevented from roaming freely ... sadly the general mentality in many of these areas is I'm alright Jack ... why should I care or worry? ... and dare say it applies in other areas of the country too

Call me a cynic, but given how badly his TV debate went and how badly he's doing in the polls, it wouldn't surprise me if he's faking it.
Two weeks telling the world how ho good he is doing, how he never stopped doing his job and at the end he'd get to say "see, I said it was no big deal".
If he dies from it, I'll admit it was real.

been around a loooooooong time ..... but dare say they'm pretty bloody busy dialing ATM ....... on the rare occasion I had need, had a guy in Cheltenham who obviously really knew how to operate the system (or he was 8 ft tall and built like a rhino) ..... never failed ... long gone now I'd imagine ... but he always got a result

agree with a lot of that Rory ....... IMHDO, if it wasn't for the overwhelming of the NHS by the shear volume of numbers, I think they'd have just let it run its course in the first place
can build as many 'Nightingales' as they like, to cope with volumes ... but staffing them is the problem ... only a finite number of suitably qualified people, prepared to risk their own lives
there is no one clear cut answer ..... depends entirely on 'where you stand' , to view the problems from ...... everyone has differing views, priorities and needs

There isn’t enough staff in hospitals without building anymore(Just spent 6 days with wife in maternity and the staff are run to the ground with so many off isolating without being able to get tests etc!)

I get that they built the nightingales to separate covid from standard hospital But they may as well of just put carpet down and made folk sit down until they got better!!

after the dealings I have had with some customers this week i can say being 8ft tall and built like a rhino helps that or be a 5ft6ish slim blonde stock car driving rugby playing roller derby Glaswegian women
