It's not as if testing actually even fixes owt. It does help to seperate infectious from clean people but fack me 100bn on testing for a disease which kills less than flu. When are these idiots going to hold their hands up and say - we got it wrong, should have followed Swedens, and our initial, strategy. We should have spent a lot more on protecting care homes and providing facilities for carers to 'live in' etc etc

Am I the only person who is a little concerned how quickly the masses jump at all these ideas out of fear
I know I will sound like a conspiracy theorist but I once read something to the effect of

You can never take a people's freedom you must convince them to give it to you

Between covid and terrorists they seem to have done a pretty good job of convincing us

No...can't get over how paranoid some folk are.
There's some poor old dears round here that litterally haven't left their homes since march...I honestly think they probably never will now.How are they going to "decide" when it's safe? .sad but I believe the media have something to answer for in this chaos.

TBF Jim, it's only killed less than flu does because the spread was blocked ..... I'm pretty sure that without the lock down we'd have been burying bodies with bull dozers in mass graves and the NHS would've melted down in some order

On that point, the flu has killed very many fewer this year because of the restrictions. That in its self shows the restrictions have a beneficial effect.

In the past few years, I've had: Barmah Forest Virus, Dengue (classic) and Zika (plus a couple I never got ID'd).
Nothing like a stay in hospital to start taking it seriously.

County borough of Caerphilly's on lock down this week and Merthyr is almost certain to get locked down very soon .. probably Monday ... huge rises in infection rates in both ... policing either would need to be a military operation ... they just don't give a flying **** in those areas ... we're fireproof attitudes

I reckon it's one of those things which just picks off all the low hanging fruit so to speak. Very rare you hear of anyone with no other serious conditions dying of it. Every death is a tragedy for someone but they couldn't afford to do this every year this stimulus will need to be paid back. We accepted 50k flu deaths when the beast from the east struck and the words furlough/shielding were not even invented then!

I've seen some articles debunking this myth but with all the media being biased in some way who knows what to believe.

You've got to question how most outlets of the media reported no resulting upticks in infections from BLM marches yet South Dakota (about the only state to remain as close to normal as possible) has a bike rally and the tables turn. The majority of the media use this to blame for any infections. It might have something to do with Trump and the upcoming election but I don't know owt about US politics - apart from my 100 quid on Trumpy boy to win again MAGA!

population of UK 66.65 m -- land mass area 242,495 km²
Sweden is 85% larger than United Kingdom with a population density of 25/Km2 ..... UK is 275/Km2 ..... and they're probably far more sensible/switched on than the vast droid population we contend with here ...

So now my labourer had to leave work early yesterday to collect this son as 'he had a temperature'. Now the kid has a covid test. Luckily his missus is a teacher so he could actually get one! Self isolation for 72 hours waiting for the test, who knows how long if test positive. SO thats next week minumum gone to s**t.

I've just logged on and claimed the second grant. f**k it. I'd urge you all to do the same.

This is all a massive clusterfuck from a bunch of clowns who couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery. We've never been able to eradicate a coronavirus, we won't manage with this one either.

He said he had a Covid test negative and suggested return to work Monday. Have requested the cert,

Nightmare, government are stuck now, increasing Covid cases and i dont think they have the tools for another total lockdown.... tough times ahead

Worth about 5.5-6 in dark times... x that by a few machines and dumpers etc ...... was for a for a rainy day imo, not many have done so.

I don't get it. The 50k isn't free. Has to be paid back unless they do a means tested reversal and write it off, thereby transferring the debt to taxpayers as a whole. What a shitshow
