Common sense prevails. Tbh I'm sick of all the press and their non story creation shite. Keep an eye on the daily updates from gov and that's it. They've had it . Social media has rendered them worthless and they know it.

Yes he's paid from the government... but there are plenty of other government employees no doubt flouting the rules and not being told they should resign by the press.

I’m certain the gov are aiming for herd immunity - it is the ONLY option available currently (to any country that does business with the rest of the world) as the virus is out of the box and is never going away now. The relatively low-risk in society all need to be exposed, hopefully the high risk will maintain social distancing and keep themselves safe.
As long as the NHS isn’t overwhelmed then the overall outcome will essentially be the same in theory. The government can’t be seen to be doing this though, so a bit of direction open to (mis)interpretation should keep the infection rates ticking along nicely...

That is an argument that my wife is spouting....we are waiting now for all Government employees to resign on Monday if they have been calling for his head!!

The main objective for government is getting economy moving and money. All other countries are doing the same. I bet no other country is being honest about case numbers and death rates. Just at present all any governments worldwide are trying to do is get their economies going so they don't come out of it as the worst off. As an advisor he really should be setting the example for others to follow but I'm not that bothered about it tbh i think there's far bigger things to worry about at the mo.

if I had a 6 yr old ...... they'd not be attending school ... not until some decent regimes were in place to safeguard them .... mostly half arsed ideas ATM ... plus, although they're theoretically low risk, it's what they can bring home with them that's the worry ... everyone's doing the social distance thing and attempting to avoid catching the bloody bug, but you've no chance if your child is out and about in school, dailyWar is breaking out here over this. Pointless trying to change schools, kids are not going to do social distancing and nor should they.
Someone in gov needs to find his balls and say this nonsense is all over 1st June. Yes people will die after but we all die anyway eventually.
If individuals want to choose to self isolate then good luck to them but everything else fully back to normal. NHS to stop closing at weekends and get through the backlog of 'routine' operations that they decided to stop doing. Rationed healthcare is just so great, the accounts dept of the NHS decides if you live or die.

trouble is Fred, the minute that happens everyone reverts to 'old ways' and the bug goes rampant again .. and anyone who is still trying to 'stay safe', distance, etc., no longer gets 'their space' respected by the herd
should doctors and nurses have to make the decisions about who lives/dies and gets ventilated .... so far it's not had to happen, but only just and because of the measures in place .... remove them and they are eventually going to have to play God, when they are inundated and overwhelmed ... and it's certainly not fair on them ... poor sods have been working their arses off and dying for their troubles
what you're advocating is fine .. unless you're in the firing line ... and this is so indiscriminate ... anyone and everyone is stood right there, in shot hoping to dodge the bullet

I'm about to roll into week 10, am as PO-ed as the rest of the world ... and TBH do not consider myself at any relatively high risk .. we've seen Clara several times at a significant distance, but her mother is asthmatic ... she certainly doesn't need her in school bug collecting and although I consider i have had this thing in January, really want an antibody test, to say yay or nay, being anywhere in the vicinity of a little bug magnet would be a questionable act ... Pam deffo has not had what I had in Jan. unless she's shown no symptoms and I did my best to keep it away from her back then.
for the paltry few weeks, a return to school would give, prior to the usual 'summer break', IMHDO it's madness to expose all and sundry to the risk ... the extra weeks could make a huge difference to the management and possible solution to the issues presented. there are far bigger issues to be dealt with than a few weeks schooling ..... put everyone back a year if need be to catch up ... better than dead or being responsible for a parent's death

One problem with getting economy going imo is furlough is too good. Lot of people would rather be at home on 80% than at work. There was a lot of people thought lockdown was great until it meant not going out at all. Now they've relaxed it a bit if you can stay on furlough but then go walking on there countryside all day what's the incentive to go back to work, better thinking of a reason why you can't. Its a bit of a catch 22 situation and whatever the government chooses to do will be wrong. I'm afraid for many furlough will be followed by redundancy unfortunately.

I have an 8 & a 6 year old and they will not be starting back at school in June. I doubt they will be going back this year. The council or whoever can fine me or do what they want but I am not putting my family at risk unnecessary after going through the last 10 weeks. They are getting some great home schooling and even know ratios after mixing up some muck for me the other day
