If it is actually true that a medical regulatory authority is saying that the end of the world is neigh. How can they possibly equate a scepticism of government policy with mental illness? Not even the harshest totalitarian regimes claim that. They may torture or imprison people for not going along with them, but suggesting they are mentally ill is a step too far.

If you've watched any international news, you'll have heard china has abandoned their 'zero covid' policy and removed/ reduced restrictions.
China is only using their 'in house' vaccine (the old school - killed virus type) which isn't particularly effective.
The outcome is a million new cases per day (expected to double in days).
The solution - stop publishing the data!

The "relaxation" of the zero covid, has nothing to do with any medical reason. In China, in order to move around using public transport or even driving your own car, you need to show a green QR code that means you are OK. Some banks in china have stolen billions from their customers savings,and to stop demonstrations and a run on the bank, they simply flick a switch and the QR code turns red and blocks any movement to protest.
This inflamed the population even more, to a point that they had to relax the rules. However it is too little too late, or so I hope anyway.

As the current strain from China is already here and in Europe it only seems to be seen to do something rather than actually stopping the spread. As 6feetdown mentioned it will only lead to supply chain problems, but have little effect on the spread.
