Converting boom swing to electric?

Is it not possible to alter the pedal system to make it better/easier to use i know some machines you almost have to stamp on the pedal to get it to move and others which you barely rest your foot on and they move. Wouldn't be too difficult to alter linkages or pedal or at least probably simpler than adding on valves etc.

I had the digger on my own private property. And I made it clear to HSE it was flat level ground with no over head or underground cables any where near. But they where adamant that no one is aloud near a construction vehicle untill there 16. They then went right threw my Facebook page and got a video of me wrapping round bales with my other son in beside me from A few years previous So this was brought up to me aswell as he had to be 13 to be in a agricultural vehicle. I ate humble pie and apologied and told them it would never happen again.

There was a mini digger at BA country stores vintage working day last year that was set up for young kids to have a go. It had a hook on end of dipper and they had to pick and place blocks with it. Looked good for the city kids that don't get near any kind of working plant.

It's fairly easily done with a remote relay board wired into the dead man I could wire something in in less than a hour

Mechanical stops on the rams for some of it. Locks on certain functions and others disconnected. Other bits have proximity sensors stoping slew etc. And all have remote emergency stops I think.

Something like this provide it with power and splice the switched line into the armrest switch and you could have it press a button to make it go press a button to make it stop

There's some auto cutouts on the digger land machines and things like the tracking and offset have had there servo lines blanked

No. 1 rule is to fix the problem don't fix around the problem therefore (Apologies if I'm speaking out of turn) would the best thing not be to get your old man a new set of knees put in? I mean if he can't press a pedal he must really struggle through each day (feel free to ignore me if I'm off up the wrong road)

If he had at least greased the knees he had maybe he wouldn't be in this position

Of course if your doing it with a machine that is not on a businesses books on your own private land for DIY use then HSE has no jurisdiction.

Knees aren't the problem hip joints are, born with perthesis disease (not sure on spelling), basically born with arthritis. Cant get any hip replacements due to being on blood thinners because of a heart attack 2 years ago, so would die of blood loss which isnt ideal, so we reckon it will be easier and safer to modify the digger to suit him.

That's a bugger ain't it! In that case my vote is for a diverter valve t'd in somewhere, think I'd try off the slew motor so moving the boom would be on the right (left) joystick for digging in tight spots
