Converting boom swing to electric?

On our EX30 it would be nice to have the 180 on a switch/roller etc instead of the pedal, easier for my old man to work due to his bad legs. Its linkage operated so would something like this work? Wired up to a switch, doesn't need to be joystick mounted. Not too clued up on this kind of thing so all advice appreciated

It won't work the way you hope it will,
1. the actuator would need to return to zero when the power is cut to it or the ram will keep going out.
2. It would need to be 2 way as such to pull the linkage the other way to return the ram.

What I have seen done before is a lever added to the pedal to use it that way.

I won't post pictures as it is rash but a few years ago we added a lever in beside the pedal, just wanted something neater now

A Bowden cable and lever of an old hedge cutter would probably work well

He’s still mad keen for it. So I will be doin my best to keep him interested. It’s the Way I was taught. And I know for certain if I wasn’t aloud near any machinery untill I was 16 I wouldn’t have one bit if interest In them today. The last Big Dig Day I ran before leaving, we had at least two young lads on the machines. They were supervised at all times and it was (obviously) with parental consent (and encouragement I should add). I would have defended our actions to HSE vigorously but it never came to that. Everyone could see what was going on and we had no adverse reaction whatsoever and there were over 250 Ops there..

The other thing worth mentioning is that they picked up the tilty concept like a shot

But they where adamant that no one is aloud near a construction vehicle untill there 16. They then went right threw my Facebook page and got a video of me wrapping round bales with my other son in beside me from A few years previous So this was brought up to me aswell as he had to be 13 to be in a agricultural vehicle. I ate humble pie and apologied and told them it would never happen again.

I was glad to get it over and done with and get rid of them. To be fair the investigator officer was a nice enough fela. He told me someone had reported it and he had to do his job and be seen to investigate it. He thanked me for my polite manner. Which I took as him saying if you had of been cheeky with us we could have made it a lot worse for you.

Thats ridiculous. We once got investigated as someone reported us for working on steep ground

Would a diverter valve onto say the bucket or blade work?

would a solenoid operated diverter valve not work better , I suspect you could probably not divert the swing circuit that would be the ideal answer to operate it but maybe one of the other circuits so you could switch the flow move the boom around using another circuit lock it in place and dig again that could be hooked up to a switch attached to the levers .
remembering that would be the hard part !

That’s pretty much how it works on my 803, buttons on right hand stick to switch between slew and boom swing. The trouble is this will involve a fair bit of plumbing and fitting a valve in somewhere?
A cable control sounds like the way to go, have a look on this website, they were very helpful to me recently, and this sounds like something they could sort out easily.

On my kubota you press a button on the end of one of the leavers. Then use the slew lever to move the off set. This i think is what your after.
My case digger has it on the floor lever. I dislike the kubota set up as you can't do the 2 things at once.
