We are a small plant hire business looking to expand our fleet of mini and micro excavators
We currently have Bobcat and kabota. . Has any one got experience of the cheaper Chinese imports. The concerns are reliability. , parts and residuals. . Any help welcome.

I think it depends on whether you are talking Carter or lungoingong (spelling ?) Apparantly some aren't so bad ... ethics is another subject I suppose.

Haven't worked any of them. Some may be good enough. Biggest issue RESALE VALUE

A second hand kubota that's been on self drive hire. Missing a window and more dings than a Chinese phone book will still make more at auction than a tidy year old carter or similar

Yeah residuals are lower currently. That may well change, and if Sany stay the course and the five year warranties are all honoured, then the figures probably stack up for self drive hire regardless.

Anyway, I don’t care, I’m just glad someone is slating something other than Bobcat 🤣

No single cylinder micro is worth a lot really. IMO….

The bigger the get some of them get to be ok but residual is a huge issue, parts? The same.. when they get bored and pull out the uk or the small importer winds up? Where do you get bits. Absolutly not what I would buy as it stands. Katoimer was a eye opener

From an end users point of view I'd rather pay and extra £20 a day to hire a kubota than a single cylinder chinese piece of you know what. How would your customers react if you tried to offer them a Chinese knock off? And how do you think your reputation would be affected? Untill you know for a fact that they are as good as or better than recognised brands, I wouldn't touch any with a barge pole. To be fair I think the Chinese are catching up from what I'm hearing, and can understand the temptation of significant cost savings.

but are the cost savings that significant, by the time you factor in downtime/breakages/parts delays/damage to rep, running crap/etc.?????

I bought an Indian make compact tractor because it was cheaper initial outlay, about 40% less than Kubota judging by discussions with Doobin. I can't compare its performance to other makes as I haven't tried any others but so far it's been fantastic and done everything I needed it to. I am however anxious when I think of future issues or if some part breaks and I need to deal with the few distributors there are in the UK and there isn't much available help online for them. Resale value isn't an issue for me as I will run it into the ground eventually.

Compare it to the JCB digger however, no anxiety at all, even if its a JCB, there are 1000's of breakers yards full of JCB parts in the UK and thousands of forum posts all over the internet on fixing them. If I was in the same situation again I probably would try and squeeze the extra cash for the better brand with more reliable long term support.

Made me laugh out loud when I saw this today on my travels....... there are so many innovative features where do you start :)
Carter has competition by the looks of (sh) it.

Will somebody somewhere actually buy this ?? I couldnt bring myself to ask how much.
