Don't complain - suggest what's better
People always complain about stuff like that, always wanting top quality for the cheapest price, weather it’s machines or the work your pricing for. The fact that some of the top demo contractors have taken them says it all really, if any machine is going to be worked in extremely harsh environments it’s with the demolition contractors and quarry’s.
What you seem to be forgetting is that, the same was said about, Hyundai, Doosan and Kobelco machines when they first came into the UK, and look at them now, 3 very respectable brands in all sizes. You buy cheap, you sell cheap, think I’d rather take one of those than something that was home grown so to speak.
It did what we were asking of it no problem, but so would a 8t, but we needed the reach, not the power.
I think it was customer resistance to feeling ripped off. These were, I expect, much cheaper machines put out at the same rate without informing the customer first. If they were upfront about it and said they were trying these and would the customer be happy to use one and give feedback I think most people would have been happy. Or offered a marginally reduced hire rate if you took the Liugong I think they would have got customer acceptance with little problem. I would have taken one just out of interest and as it did all we needed I would have been happy to have a reduced rate. My guy who spent most of the time operating it said it was okay, not as comfortable as the equivalent Komatsu (but the are very nice),but a lot better place to spend the day than my A20.

So on the same note if they’d said to you, you can have a Komatsu for £10p/hr more you’d of taken it?? I doubt it, it all comes down to cost, . It did the job, and peolple will do anything to get some money knocked off a job.

It's not the hire rate per say and as it was self drive it was a weekly rather than an hourly rate anyway. It was the not being up front about it. Komatsus were the machine advertised on their website and what had always been delivered. I didn't complain and I was interested to see what it was like. I was just adding to the discussion from my experience. I haven't seen anyone else commenting who has actually used one. I'm not in the market to purchase a full sized machine, I don't have enough work for one, but I have operated 20 tonners from at least four manufacturers.

I think Matthew Davis might have sold the Sunwards for a little while, but went over to the Carters as they do have quite a following in Australia and New Zealand. It was easier to get some customer feedback back on the brand that could be understood rather than getting squashed spider writing!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

There’s always some #unt who’s never f$cking happy!!...what’s more than likely is that it was “presumed“ that you’d get a komatsu...and why the f&ck should they give them a reduced rate for it, rates are bad enough as they are with the snowflakes complaining cos it’s not finished off like other machines.

To be fair hire companies put machines out for peanuts anyway a lot of the time, you couldn't blame them for wanting to buy cheap machines. But it is there own doing for being greedy and cutting one anothers throats. Saw an outfit there other week offering a brand new jcb 12 metre telehandler for £250 per week ffs

My doosans build quality is s**t
Problem with cheap import stuff, is that they are cheap. Either copying old designs or very little r&d so may not have the performance or economy of other similar machines.
If you search for carter your very hard pressed to find any sort of review bar endless sites like Alibaba or the UK website for selling them. Although having looked at some liugong the carter's from a distance look to be copies of them

And geith hitches since they were taken over by doosan and production moved to china or India, quality control is non existent. I used to rate their hydraulic hitch in some respects it's the best design out there but there quality now is terrible I'll never have another.

How old was/is your Doosan? Was in a new 50 tonner the other month and it seemed really nice, not all fancy stuff, but just a straight forward simple layout.

15 months just over 200 hours, only a micro but couple of leaks, few pins replaced, still have a weird knock and now had an odd noise last time I was on it

I do think Gra has a valid point .... he's used this Co. loads before and always had Kommies ... it's what he says they advertise ... OK what turned up did the job ... it could equally well not have ...... if you go to rent a car expecting the usual thing and get presented with a Lada, you'd not be best pleased and kick off / walk away if you were charged the same rate as say a Grandland, which seem to be pretty popular with the rental guys ATM ... Like Gra, I too would be interested in what it was like ... but not at my expense :(

Bit like the people who buy the machinery you get the most freebies with like hats pens jackets etc.

I'm with Graham Tbh, IMHO if you Advertise a 20t class Excavator, you supply a 20t Excavator....

Advertise a 20t Komatsu you supply a f****ng Komatsu.... https://www.heservices.co.uk/large-diggers/

That's my personal view on things, rightly or wrongly..... Advertising a Komatsu 210 and showing up with A Luigong 210 is abit like showing up with a 18t machine with 21t stickers on  Particularly when H.E tend to charge a little better than some on the premise that you will get a top quality machine. A bit like expecting a Takeuchi from CBL, or a Bag of s**t from R.Sanders Plant Hire.

As for slashing rates... well all the big ones are guilty of that...... H.E included IMHO. Reap what you sow.
