How old was the machine when it was bought, and what terms were on the invoice? My most recent second hand machine was supplied by a main dealer with ‘no warranty given or implied’ clearly stated on the invoice.

I am truly shocked .. wouldn't have guessed that in a million years :oops:
BUT I understand Ross 'brokers' a lot of gear for them and may well have been totally unaware of any issues .. resulting in both parties getting 'shafted', possibly :( ISTBC

Theres bound to be an way. Have tou have an independent guy look at it? The main dealer will always go for the easiest option.
A good independent fitter/auto electrician could go through it and sort it.
It will cost as well, but at least it wouldn't be 27ks worth

depends on what's fried though .... or it all gets removed if there are expensive components that're U/S .. don't think Martyn is in need of height/slew restrictions .. just a hell of a lot to returning it to std op. :(

I know he dont need the height restrictor etc, i don't think thats his problem now.
A good fitter/spark will sort or replace the the loom

his problem is that, as the restriction circuitry is U/S nothing works as it defaults to inoperative :(

Is it the white plug you posted earlier in the thread that’s causing the problem?

I have huge sympathies with @mart1602 as that’s a real crappy situation to be in.
I do think that this is part of the risk taken running second hand kit though. You could spend double/triple the amount on a new machine with full warranty etc, or take your chances with an older machine (which many of us do).
If it was faulty from purchase or within a month or so then you’d be within your rights to go back to the dealer - I’m not sure how far a second hand machinery dealer should be expected to go with warranty claims though (and I have no dog in this fight!). 400 hours is a fair bit of work done in real terms - I’m not sure how many firms would warrant 6 year old machines for that long post sale, whatever industry you were in.

No ,that was the start of the problems, if it was only that we fixed it and move on, the plug that goes into main pump controller is melted along with most of the wires in it which messes up the hydraulic functions

Did you manage to identify what failed to overheat the connector/loom?
Without knowing anything about the condition at sale or how it was treated since, I'd be confident in saying whatever caused that damage, wasn't present 400h earlier.

Wires rotten in all connectors due to long term water ingress through the roof, additional wiring for cameras and becons not sealed couldn't see it because of panelling in cab Wires broken in connector started to short out. Would not go into fast track from delivery so think this was what was causing that, the plug was under heater duct behind seat took days to find

To me 400hrs is 9_10 weeks work ,I know it's a risk buying used but machine was advertised as gwo and been on komatsu service contract from New, and the seller has had good reviews on here all things considered when buying

This. You need a specialist auto electrician, not a plant mechanic.

If it wouldn't go into fast track from delivery then I'd say it's never been fit for purpose personally.

How far west are you again Martyn? I may know a few people that could be worth a call out that way

I'm in fishguard, West Wales, if I could get the plug it would be an option every machine breaking I can find has a burnt-out cab ,it will slew now on the slew brake override but lever pulses quite badly so how long that will last I don't know
