Anyone else think it's ideal that the BBC is now the police watchdog and that's it's role to go round filming police officers secretly and then blow the whole thing up on a documentary?

Not defending bad apples but it's a sh*t job at best of times and I'm sure we're all guilty of an off day. Just seems to fit right into Khans angry little anti police stance once again.

This was more than an off day - deliberately dislocating someone’s fingers when taking fingerprints? I have no problem with the “bad apples” (or “vindictive, spiteful, thugs in uniform”) getting caught. Neither do the majority who are decent. As we’re constantly told, if they’ve done nothing wrong, they’ve nothing to worry about.

is this what is being discussed?

" Secret filming by Panorama reveals evidence of racism, misogyny and officers revelling in the use of force at one of London’s busiest police stations, Charing Cross. After the murder of Sarah Everard by a serving police officer, the Metropolitan Police promised change and says that since 2022 more than 1,400 officers have either been dismissed or have resigned following a clamp down on what it calls ‘rogue officers’. Panorama’s evidence suggests that a toxic culture still exists inside the Met and that racist and misogynistic attitudes haven’t been eliminated but have been driven underground. The Met has responded to Panorama’s investigation by suspending eight officers and one staff member, as well as referring the allegations to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. "

didn't see it ... the Met has always had a rep. for heavy handed policing going back 40/50+ years ..... TBH it's a tough place requiring tough policing IMHDO  and there will always be the idiots/tossers/those who should not be in uniform who infiltrate -- I can think of a few locally that should not be 'in the job'

Depends on the council. But most will have specs for the test pit size to standardise it and make it easy for there own staff. Locally I think Soakaway is 600mm x 2m x 2.5m. and percolation is a 300mm square at a set depth.

Percolation for septic doesn't actually need much more than a shovel and a couple 25L drums target depth wants to be around 600-800 below ground. Deeper and the aerobic bacteria that lives in the system won't thrive and the field won't work properly.

Soakaway tests are different again.... Tractor bowser for that.

If I'm honest it's fast becoming the remit of a geotechnical engineer and some councils will pull funny faces unless the calcs come on headed notepaper from one.

" Paper driving licenses are still valid in the UK, but they are largely being replaced by photocard licenses, and the paper counterpart was abolished in 2015 "
last time I looked into it you could still get a paper license (if you didn't want a plastic one) on request

just sent a link on that ( https://stcnorthgolf.com/uk-driving-licence-update/ ) to Serge and his comment is " If you go to the DVLA website, none of it has been implemented yet. It’s just a proposal. That site is scare mongering. " -- just realised it's October already and that date has passed anyway
