This is the ultimate answer if I'm honest.

Legalize small electric transport up to 35mph with the same criteria as pushbikes. No license, tax or insurance requirements but a strict ban on there use on unrestricted roads, dual carriageways and roadside footpaths.

I'd have a leccy scooter tommorow. Or a fully leccy bike. To run round local.

I dunno if there are many cyclists on this forum- I expect far and few between. But dear oh me what a complete pain in the arse they are. They are the exact opposite of environmentally friendly. There is a long road into Plymouth from where I live. Almost everytime I drive down there when traffic is busy there is a kilometer long tail back of traffic, lorries busses etc all stuck behind one bloody cyclist cos the lorry immediately behind can't very easily overtake. It's the arrogance involved that pisses me off, pull over for fucks sakes if you can see that much traffic behind you. Can't over take them going uphill because of blind summit then down hill they fly down so fast it's a job to get past them then as well. Can't stand them. Plus in this world of over enthusiastic H&S is it really a good idea for a cyclist be sharing the same few square meters as 40 tons trying to squeeze past at 50mph. Madness and the quicker they can get them off the road the better all our lives will be.

We have the blasted lycra clad in profusion, we also have temporary traffic lights every couple of miles. We all follow a lorry for a mile until it can safely overtake, we can then get past and do a hundred yards before the next lights and then watch the blasted smug sods go to the front of the queue and we start all over again

Oh FFS. Exactly the same here does my nut in.
So...we've a newish bypass tight dual carriageway with no shoulder to speak of...
Turned old route through village into proper two way cycleway with kerbs to separate it from road cost a fortune...and yes u guessed it's there's a still twats who insist on cycling up the bypass at rush hour forcing traffic into one lane...and now everyone's leaving 6ft when they pass etc. Utter bullshit.

That's it! Worst is when your towing something heavy and you have to grind to halt on a steep hill, momentum lost. The smoke can be terrible when your chance does come to overtake

I can never understand why you see leisure cyclists and horseriders all appear at rush hour. Why on earth do they choose the busiest time of day to play in traffic. And then use the least cycle friendly roads.
Apart from pissing everyone off I really do wonder what's happened to there sense of self preservation. We have miles and miles of beautiful woodland with solid tracks that dry all year round. 1000s of miles of home made mountain cross tracks through the woodlands. As well as purpose built ones by the national trust and forestry commission. All free to use. In the countryside with shade and rain cover with the trees no cars and exhaust fumes. Nice and safe for everyone. So why is there a que round the 50mph dual carriageway that feeds the m25 and is less than a mile away. None of them seem to understand that there moral high ground is going to be of no consultation for their family at their funeral.

last time I went to Hereford for Russ, was delayed by a good 12-15 min.s by two ****ing cyclists ABREAST on a main trunk road ... sod all could get past them with this 5ft clearance bollocks ... both wearing cameras on their heads ... needed to pass them on other side of the road and oncoming traffic, virtually solid ... this new 5ft sh1t is diabolical .... made me late to site ..
