I did explain to a Vat registered client recently that £1.20litre derv from Morrison’s 500m away is better value than £1.00 plus 5% for red 3 miles away is better value!!

I quite often f**k white in the mini's whilst filling the lorry when shifting too/from jobs. For the £5-10 it takes the convenience makes life easier.

I don't run machines all the time and getting red in any small quantity is a pain to drive to. Like I say for 20l 8 quid saving just wasn't worth the time and effort. Had an earthmoving guy here this morning does some interesting work bet a few of you may know him Paul badger think he said his d6 and d8 use about 10 gallon per hour don't think he was too keen on white! Did say most of his work was ag though

Think he said his machines were around 1978. Wonder if better fuel economically now?

Most if not all new stuff burn same amount as old gear just burn it better so less emissions and never been about less used really
Old engines fire one good shot just before tdc and newer engines do 2 or 3 shots (smaller amount) before tdc and a few again after plus what dpf uses to burn off carbon

Sounding like they will go ahead, according to BBC!

"
Meanwhile, the chancellor is expected to scrap a subsidy on diesel used by the farming and construction sector in an effort to encourage a switch to greener alternative fuel vehicles and help the UK meet its climate change targets.

Rishi Sunak is set to announce in next week's budget that red diesel - so-called because it is marked with a dye - will no longer attract a lower fuel duty. It currently accounts for about 15% of total diesel sales in the UK and costs the Treasury about £2.4bn a year in revenue"

f**k, I'm glad I only run mini diggers. On the plus side- I bet a lot of chancers will be trading tractors in for lorries, strangely!

How will they police it??

Presumably if they are scrapping it all then there won't be a opportunity to purchase it.

I will simply be upping my rate inline with it 😂 £45/hr for a 8 tonner anyone...... 😂 f****ng africa is looking appealing 😂

I spoke to my supplier yesterday he says he had heard nothing on the tom toms not that it would make a big difference to me 100lt per week max and I am paying 72p per lt + vat at 5% not 20% that is on road fule, so more vat to get back in fact would may save a bit of time just fill a couple of cans when I fill up the truck and at least every one would have an excuse push the rates up a few bob.

I've Emailed my MP for a laugh. 😂 To be honest it is around 50ppl increase and in theory It could make diesel handling simpler like you say Ant...

The bollocks will be when farmers get Red Still and then continue undercutting 😂 they have to diversify you see.

What do trains use?

Electricity is the answer to that if your a MP.

I don't think this will make a great difference to the tax take in general although we will have to pay higher fule tax but most of us can get the vat back and the full cost is tax deductible I think the main reason for this will be to limit the amount of red in the system that is being used for cars and vans if our file was more expensive we would not have bowsers on site with 000 of Lt for any one to fill a can or 2 for the friendly taxi driver or worse still being put in a van that you are getting paid to travel to work both of which I have seen .

As I said prob a year ago now in a thread, this has already happened here in France and starts in june .... even a chicken scrattin outfit like me could use another 500€ of fuel a month when 8t - 3t - and dumper is going on a job

Obviously going to increase the theft from machines too
