Budget and red diesel restrictions

just buy heating oil instead. they wont be scrapping that unless they want to freeze to death anyone not on mains gas.
very few C/heating boilers are gas oil (32 sec. oil) anymore ... mostly kero (28 sec. oil) and it's a simple nozzle change from 32 to 28 sec. oil anyway ... nozzles are a fiver on average

IF it becomes AG use only .. nothing else .. it would be easy to police ... if you have red in any tank .. private land or not and it's not being used for purely AG ... they'll have you by the balls whether it's in your digger, roller, whacker plate, steam cleaner or space heater ..... would be easier to abolish altogether and let the Giles,s claim duty back off derv ....... as said

and they could do away with the whole RDCO system altogether ... be a couple of thousand bodies' wages saved instantly .... and'd fk all them running on red in their cars
Yes abolish it altogether it would level it self out no need for Giles or anyone else to claim back duty prices would just increase. No more hauliers running lorries on red or taxis to compete with farmers wouldn't be interested in shifting a swinger on a lowloader or even potatoes with a tractor that does less than 6mpg when a lorry is much cheaper to run.

absolutely ... (y)
be a bit of a bar steward putting white in't 'Drema, dumper, JakieB, the genny/pressure washer/roller/etc.,:cry: but if red didn't exist anyway ... we'd have no option ....... and'd deffo put EVERYONE on a level playing field

I like cake
red has been a no no for propulsion on canals since 2008 ....... but can be used for heating on canal boats .... like everyone installed a secondary tank :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: ... used to sell a lot of red to boaters and just receipted it as heating oil (which gas oil is) ..... wasn't up to me to police it ...:giggle: was enough of a faff being registered as a dealer in the RDCO system anyway ... slightest error in the paperwork got you a 200 quid fine instantly :mad:

It was down to boaters to tell there propulsion vs heating use.

Marinas usually made them go 60/40 for their books.

In theory if red diesel is outlawed then the price of white diesel should go down to average it out but bet that won't happen
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: ..... you see that squadron of pigs circling overhead ........ revenue collection'd increase for sure ...... TBH I am totally surprised that it's not been done years ago ....... would be a huge increase in revenue

any sale of gas oil, under 100 litres, did not have to have the usage recorded ... was simply a cash sale ....... 101 litres or above - and name, address, collection vehicle reg., plus declared usage had to be recorded and signed for ..... very rarely sold more than 100 at a time, unless the usage was legit. / straight into a jake's tank/vac. exc./ etc.
was an afternoon's work, once a month, doing the RDCO monthly return ..... and God help you, making a mistake ... they were like the bloody stasi

heating oil is gas oil, which is red diesel, which is gas oil, which is white with a dye in it ;)
I've been rather cautious of the all fuels are the same approach since taking the fuel filter out of a new agricultural machine at First service and finding it in its component pieces. The view at the time was that the motor was intended for use in a lorry and that the duty rebated at the time had dissolved the glue. Said unit didn't perform well and was swapped out after one season courtesy of the manufacturer ;)

You have some poor bloke in an oil refinery rolling his eyes! Heating Oil has a very slightly different BTU as it comes out of the refinery compared to diesel. Almost so close to it that you would not notice the difference! I seem to think that it runs drier than diesel and you need to add a drop of two stroke to return the slightly better lubrication you get from diesel, either in red or white form! Is your P38 a diesel? If it is it can run very well on neat veg oil.

4.6 V8 Shaun ...
when I used to buy my DERV and red direct from Shell, it very often arrived in one big artic tanker-load ... and the driver'd dump a measured amount of dye into me red tank .. after he'd pumped it full of derv ... just signed for X amount of gas oil and Y amount of DERV - usually 5,000 and 25,000 litres-ish, respectively ... every 9 or 10 days

Yep Derv and red is all the same apart from the Dye. Heating Oil is just very slightly different but would still make the bang happen in an oil burner! As much as I love the sound of a V8 I am a diesel fan for vehicle propulsion.......especially if you have 3500kg hanging on the back!

me too ... as long as the squishy, squashy, bang, bang bits're at least 10 litres :giggle::giggle:(y)

Don't know of any local oil suppliers who don't sell you red/gas oil as heating (32 sec.) oil :sneaky:

What about the idiots in Travis paying 25 exc vat for 20l of red ha. Convenience eh
I used white in that e10 this week. Did about 20l in the week and couldn't be arsed messing about running round town. Most hire firms want a quid plus for cherry anyway.
