Just been offered a bobcat 553 not running but apparently was 2 years ago when parked no bucket for 1500 seems a little steep to me what do you think

I bought it looks ok ex Hanson's cement so much dust in it tried starting it turned over and nearly went then melted jump leads wiring has been bodged badly but not major need to get a new battery in it and I bet it will start

Only issue with bobcat is getting parts, we are on the wrong side of the Atlantic for old models. I had to get a part shipped to a friend in texas who then forwarded it onto me here, bit of a pain but its a great machine so worth keeping her going. I’d hate to be trying to restore one thats in a bad condition though!

I gave it a wash looks loads better tomorrow I will stick a battery in it and give it a try however it tries to turn over as soon as you connect it also the heater plugs run all the time there is lots of inline connectors up in the left hand corner where the key switch was and they put a emergency stop switch there instead so i need to trace wires unless anyone has a wiring diagram

Probably easiest just to trace and rewire as necessary, I doubt the ‘loom’ will bear much resemblance to the original wiring by the way you’ve described it!

Has this machine got the BICS (Bobcat Interlock Control System) on it?
If it has and you want to keep all the safety interlocks working I would advise against ripping all the wiring out and starting again unless you have a wiring diagram to follow.

Yes I think it has the wiring to the engine is very simple to wire tho no too bothered about the interlocks working

If I had no attachments for my machine I think forks would now be my first choice.
I didn’t realise how much I would use them until I had them. I acquired some forks from a small forklift and made a plate that fitted the Bobcat quick attach to carry them.
Can’t remember when was the last time I even put the bucket on mine.
My machine is the 463 so slightly smaller than yours but I can take some photos and measurements of the bucket if it helps. This would give you the proportions and then scale the measurements to match your machine.

It’s what I do!
Check it has the right starter fitted! There is a cheap version or there is the correct one, guessing it has a Kubota 1505 engine, pictures of the engine if you like

4 cylinder Kubota same as my mower starter is very lazy tho
