I have a load of old Dewalt 36v and I only have 2 batteries left working, other day I was drilling some 16mm holes 20cm deep through new oak and ran out of charge in them so asked customer to plug my charger in, don't bother he said I will run cord out and you can use my drill, first Bosch (green stuff)just made a noise and wouldn't turn thats funny he said il bring my new one and if this doesn't work they can have it back, so plugged in his new one and tried to continue the hole that was 3/4 of the way through and it just made a noise and smoked

so we charged a battery up for the Dewalt and away we went again, which leads me to believe the old gear may well be worth the expense of some new batteries, they are not easy to find and mostly out of stock , seems a shame because it's solid old kit..... any recommendations?
