So bosses. Best way making them. Solid stock them drilling them out on the lathe? Solid stock looks cheaper than buying individual bosses by a long shot. Or is there a type of stock that I'm not seeing, like pipe with a very thick diameter wall that I can turn a little bit for accuracy.

The heavy wall pipe is obviously the most economic way of buying steel for the job but neigh on impossible to get the size you need in small quantities. Best getting solid bar and boring them out

Yesterdays evening project - Modeled the dipper of the jz70 in solidworks. Still got to do the main digging bucket and finish the quickhitch though. it doesn't seem 100% right got to doublecheck the placement of the bucket ram but else seems good.

Normally I totally make it up as I go along or a small sketch beforehand that changes 20 times throughout the project but I wanted to see what it'd be like to draw it all first, learnt all this for my DT a while back can just about remember it.

i had 2 pins off him 450 long ,65mm first 90mm then turned down to 60mm and 2 60mm bosses all in ,delivered £113 thats a good price

While looking for a photo of some quick connect caps I found a couple pics of some fork extensions I made a few months back, after someone bent the old ones (just rectangular box) into banannas lifting things they shouldn't done.
Scabby bit of steel this was, funny shapes in the milscale and not totally perfect, not square end and stuff. This doesn't capture how bad it was.
No photos of the fabricating but its none too complicated to dream up how I did it
Didn't think about weight when I made them, probably should've because they're bloody heavy.
That bit of weld was finished too!
Still need to add two tabs with holes in for pins to keep them on the forks at the far end.

they must've had 10 sets of 'em littered about the factory .... saved hunting for a set when they wanted 'em ... 2 acre site full of timber frame panels and stock .... extensions were on/off like a whore's draws
