I’ve noticed this with watts, unless it’s ridiculously cheap or I’ve got time to view it’s a real gamble, speak to a lot of people that don’t like RB. but I think there very with there descriptions and photos (however sometimes listed as the wrong items) and generally seems to be the better end of the gear, (a lot of off hire gear)Dealers dump it into auction after 6 weeks or so of higher priced marketplace advert, guy near me buys from one auction then sells in another.
Rb auctions give a very good description on whether its running etc with lots of detail photos
if functions work etc local Barnsley auctions doesn’t. This wacker was in rb the month before as non runner then in Barnsley this month with no description.
Whether they genuinely bought it and thought oh can’t fix that or whether they just ran in 15 miles down rd hard to know but see a lot of kit coming from RB and euro ending up in local free for all sale.
and a ****ing massive pile of new bits ..... doubt there is anything on that, that doesn't need replacing --- 'been there, done it, got several tee shirts'Few spare weekends and a bottle of rust eater and its a job done..

Me thinks its for people to 'get busy'with the log book...and a ****ing massive pile of new bits ..... doubt there is anything on that, that doesn't need replacing --- 'been there, done it, got several tee shirts'.. will be an 8.13 motor too

as said quite recently - there is a points system to achieve historic status .. too many new bits invalidates the statusMe thinks its for people to 'get busy'with the log book...![]()
Seen similar log books only for sale before..
as you say, its a whole new vehicle at the end..or a different one.
not a problem with a '62 chassis ... however the defender axles're gonna be contentious .... presumably original LT95 box and O/drive? ..... I have a list some where of what each component is worth - points-wise to qualify ... I'll try and find it
Historic is now on a rolling 40 yearly basis ... was originally pre '73 only, but that changed a while back, so anything currently pre July '83 now qualifies ... It must also have a current MOT when you apply for historic status and then be kept in a roadworthy condition ... can get hauled off to a ministry test centre at any time if stopped by plod and they'm not happy it's roadworthy![]()
