Getting your money's worth from your tools

Still in daily use.
Imagine the condition of the scooter that donated its tyre to this barrow.

I understand taking shortcuts (like grinding on the side of a cutting disc), but seriously, you're setting yourself up for a Darwinian moment lining the disc up with your gonads.

So it was the start of summer and a mates tractor tyres were getting a low for road use (visually at least), but he didn't want to fit new tyres until the start of winter - "did I know anything about regrooving?"
As it happened, I'd seen it done not long ago and it looked easy enough (so long as you don't go too deep) and went searching for someone selling the tool.
Surprisingly expensive, was the answer.
"Can you think of another way?" quickly followed - (apparently I could).

If you ever do this, do it outside someone else's house.
The 'swarf' comes off hot and vulcanises itself to everything it touches.

Seen it done with a grinder. Wouldn’t want to try it.
Did You emigrate to Oz from Tennessee?

I've cut tyres up using a grinder (not pleasant) - the rules say you can't put a tyre in a wheely bin, but half a tyre is ok ;)

It is a bit 'hillbilly', but you can be surprisingly delicate with a chainsaw.
I built myself a little shed to house a water pump (+ solar controller etc). All the carpentry was done with a chainsaw. It's just a shed, but I think it looks ok.
